(Reuters) - Phone records and intercepted calls show that members of Donald Trump's presidential campaign and other Trump associates had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election, the New York Times reported on Tuesday, citing four current and former U.S. officials.

U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies intercepted the communications around the same time they were discovering evidence that Russia was trying to disrupt the presidential election by hacking into the Democratic National Committee, three of the officials said, according to the Times.

And the president knew he was potentially compromised by the Russians and still allowed him full access to classified information. If there was nothing wrong with what he was doing he wouldn't have lied about it and then resigned.

yea compromised because he can get sanctions lifted. like I told this was a hit job by the out going administration. Funny they care about the Russians now but not the past 8 years.

Flynn was unethical but probably not illegal. If he had waited a few more weeks until he was officially working for the US government it wouldn't even be an issue. Other than his lying to Pence and he should be fired for that if for nothing else.

Trump should be commended for getting rid of Flynn instead of trying to keep a bad apple.

There is also the issue of probably illegal wiretapping and the definitely illegal leaks which needs to be investigated.

You can probably get over the legality of the wiretap. I'm pretty sure we've been listening in on the Russian ambassador's phone calls since the 40's. If this was all not a big deal Trump wouldn't have fired him, but he did. Are you questioning Trump's judgement?
