If that is true, then we must accept much less from our government. Less subsidies to farmers, to businesses, less safety standards, less stability of markets. And before you sign on to such a love of free markets, consider the full and complete ramifications of that. Few would really want that. What they mean is that they want government to do what they want it to do and nothing more, nothing less...until they change their mind.
But in this representative republic, we have decided what we want government to be. We just don't want to pay for it and want cuts made only that are hard on the "others".
