I’m curious. I know your son plays soccer, but what about your daughter? How would you feel about a trans boy playing against her team?

She does play. She plays against boys at times. Doesn’t much care for it. But a single player, boy, girl, trans doesn’t tend to make a difference in soccer. A single or even three exceptional players can easily be negated by a well coached and disciplined team.

So when I watch her team play, I’m generally not paying attention to single players on either team. Considering how many tournaments and games she’s played, it may be possible that she’s played a trans boy and we never knew it. Teams and coaches can be fairly unscrupulous at every level.

Gender is a linguistics term, linguistics is a system of symbols that people use to communicate ideas about the real world. When the ideas behind the symbols start moving further and further away from the real things the symbols are meant to communicate, they lose their meaning.

To an extent I agree that traditional gender-roles in a society can be too rigid and make it difficult for people, whose circumstances fall outside the norms, just to get by. This is where putting tradition ahead of people gets conservatives in trouble. We need to be compassionate towards the struggles of others, without losing all grip on reality.

Actually have watched a bit lately on YouTube and always watch the World Cup, both men's and women's. Don't know how old your daughter is but a prepubescent boy with long hair might get away with it. But post puberty it's doubtful that an effeminate boy is out there playing soccer and a boy developing whiskers and standing a head taller with a flat chest probably isn't fooling anyone. Doesn't matter, if he's good enough to be on the team he's displaced a girl who wanted to play. You're focusing on if a boy makes a difference in winning but for that girl he displaced it makes all the difference.

I guess where the problem comes in, in this situation, is when college scouts are out.
