The New Contract And Future Pension Contributions: Are We Ok. Or Are We Robbing Peter To Pay Paul?

My Financial guy says that with my pension and my wifes and mines SS we could live just fine. Her State pension has always just went into savings and my Military disability and small State pension is just icing on the cake as is the "over 70 forced payout of about a grand a month on our investment portfolio. I'm sure we would survive on JUST our pensions if we needed to because we have NO PAYMENTS ON ANYTHING-NOTHING-ZILTCH- NADA. It's surprising how easy the money comes when you have no payments or kids living off you. Hope this helps.
Thank you rod
Unfortunately most people don't understand that

But I'm sure you can tell the rest of us how far your pension check doesn't stretch like it did two plus decades ago

Luckily I never had to rely on just my pension check. We always have had a decent nest egg saved up for if there was a rainy day.

For all but two funds—the IBT-UPS and New England funds—and one local rider, the Southwest, the company will contribute at the same rate as in the prior contract, with zero increases.

But the actuaries in the West specifically told UPS they do not need any increase in contributions to maintain, and increase current pensions. They are getting plenty of money already

I can’t understand you guys that say it is a concession for UPS not to increase contribution rates. The actuaries of the plans say they are good with the current rate.

Do you think UPS should contribute more so that an employee can retire and make more money being retired than working?

That’s not what a pension is. The funds not getting an increase said they don’t need one.

But you still throw out there…. oh my god, no increase in contributions, that is a concession. Vote no.

Do a little research it’s not that hard.

Need? We work for that money. We are not working so so another plan can get our money.

And here I thought we were a Union shop. The same pay for the same work.

The West was getting $8K while the Central was getting $4K.

The West will still get their 8K, and more, while the Central gets $5300.

Yes, you worked for that. You worked for a pension. You make $90k working and your pension is $90K.

The Central will still only get $67K. $25K less per year, for a Union shop where everyone should be equal. Quit bitching.

Bad investments? Every fund gets the same contribution is how it works.
