20% of the work force doesn't plan to stay longer then 6 months and your asking why didn't they vote for others futures. I know someone who is leaving in a month and still voted yes, that to me is worse than not voting at all.

I said if those who voted had all been NO votes, it would have been the same outcome as the previous poster is arguing that 46% voted YES, as if that matters. If it was 100% NO, 0% YES, the contract would be imposed regardless.

You may be right, but it would've taken minimal tweaks with minimal financial impact to get enough votes to ratify this outright. If this was supported by a 50%+1 vote, there would be no argument. All they had to do was appeal to a few more, and that would've been easy enough through several different avenues. The hard truth of it is that a contract doesn't have to take care of everyone it covers, it only has to appease half of the people that care about it.

If you think about it like this. The voting process has never been easier. As you know it’s all electronic. Ups Freight got 67 percent of the membership to vote. You at UPS got 44%. Who’s fault is it really. We made it so easy to vote. We sent out more information than ever and still the membership can’t be bothered to vote. How do you reason with this logic?

It doesn't matter. This isn't a democratic process. If 100% of people voted NO it was going to be imposed regardless. The mob voted NO, period. And hoops are put up that can't and will never be met because of the demographics at UPS. This is all by design.

No they have a choice of either ratifying it or try to renegotiate if the 50‰ total or 2/3rds majority was not met.

We usually have a good voter turnout, I'm very curious to see the total.

Look man, I'm just as disappointed as anyone else, but I'm not just making up to make things look worse. There is plain language discussing what happened, read it. You can have your own opinions, but not your own facts.
