The Runner Gunner Lunch Skippers are HATING the new DOT lunch rule

A guy that used to run 3 hours under will now be 2 1/2 hours under assuming he didn't take any of his lunch previously. Hardly a reason for mgmnt concern.
If someone bonuses 3 hours a day either the allownceson tbe route are screwed up(unlikely) or the driver is probably doing things they arent suppose to do....the days of making this much bonus are over....its now considered scratch to run your ass off all day..absolutely a flawed system all the way around that only a corporation could make up.

It is funny that the whole center's numbers will tank now that the rabbits are forced to take their breaks and management will have to answer to their bosses about the numbers being worse. And of course since it rolls downhill the rabbits will get harassed over their numbers looking worse. They will get nothing from UPS for their previous hard work. It is the "what have you done for me lately" mentality.

Only the "rabbits" numbers will go to normal. Everyone's else will stay the same as we take lunch.

Yep I have been here under 10 years and notice a huge difference. Routes I use to be able to run and speed and get off at 4-4:30 now I can do the same thing get off at 6 if I'm lucky.

Ps I don't do this very often at all. It's a rare occasion that ill literally run all day.

Hour is too long. I don't want to get up and get back in the groove of things if I've been sitting on my ass for an hour.

That must be your center. Our center averages well over an hour under per driver.

With all due respect it is none of your concern how "your" route is run while you are on vacation. Dave.

He's right.

When I go on vacation, I make sure the trash can is empty and the fuel tank is full. I make sure there is a tape gun, a fresh roll of DR bags and 3 full bags of dog biscuits in the back, and I always make sure that any new gate codes or other relevant information has been put in the DIAD notes and/or taped to the bulkhead so that it is available for my replacement. The cover drivers who arent jackasses also have my phone number and if there is an address they cant find or a dog they arent sure about I have no problem with them calling me.

Beyond that... my responsibility for the route is done and whatever happens out there when I'm gone is someone elses problem not mine. I have done my part. I am powerless over the actions of UPS and I am poweless over the actions of another person, so I refuse to take ownership over things that I have no control over. If some jackass wants to crap all over the route while I am gone thats his deal not mine, the customers can call in a complaint if they need to, and when I return from vacation UPS can pay me $45 an hour on OT to apologize and clean up whatever messes were left behind by my replacement. My customers know me and who I am and the ones whose opinions I give a :censored2: about arent going to hold me responsible for the actions of someone else.

I am a split driver and will agree with but on the flip side there are runners who screw split drivers.

If the regular driver is a bonus whore who skips his lunch, speeds, cuts corners and does half his pickup route on the phone then yes, he is screwing over the relief driver.

I dont give my cell phone# out to customers. I dont speed, I take my lunch, and I drive to every pickup every day as close as possible to their scheduled time. I am also diligent about making sure that the office enters notes in the DIAD for particular stops that have gate codes, mean dogs, or unusual delivery procedures.

Assuming a stop count comparable to what I typically go out with, my relief driver should have no trouble getting my route done in a reasonable amount of time.

my dad would be proud. always told me to do things the right way. in the long run everything would be fine.

How come you guys never seem to get the TOFC pouch on those pigs so it makes it all the way to PHOAZ?

We have the problem of the hub sups pulling all the adhesive strips and wrapping the pouches around the handles to where we have to tear them all to hell trying to get them off to check the paperwork. We've given up complaining so in my case at least I take the paperwork and stick it in the kingbox. Other guys just try and put the wad of pouch back on the handle.

Ah, seems to be endemic. Our Stupes stick them outside the kingbox so its a mess when you go to pull it off or a nice fat pouch of water when it rains (and it does rain here)

If a "runner gunner" :/ is making life difficult for someone that takes the route out when he's not there, you need a better supervisor and center manager. The same rule would apply even if he/she wasn't a "runner gunner" :/ as no two people are alike regardless.
