I know a lot of you would think this is extreme but if all you have is Social Security and you want to live with.some modicum of dignity, and be able to afford having live in care, you really should look at living overseas. For Americans I would definitely consider the Philippines. There are millions of young women there who would gladly move in, and I'm not talking about romantically, and take care of everything for a few hundred dollars a month. Who speak excellent English. If the alternative is sitting in a soiled diaper in a nursing home, surrounded by others in soiled diapers, I'd be on the first flight out.

If it was that or a nursing home, I’d absolutely go for that.

The money gets funneled to the top.

The nurses are angel. The managers care.

But there’s not nearly enough money to get good employees in the rooms.
i've had a couple of family members that went through the nursing home scenario. nursing homes are not a drop and run.
family has to make time each day to visit and ensure that the family member in the home is getting the care they need.

my wifes grandmother was in one for about six months , care at best is sufficient but never to the standards you would expect for family. my wife , sisters and mother showing up daily helped ensure she got the best care possible.

my dad was in one as a rehab after getting a leg amputated. I saw him for his birthday in the morning my mother came in that afternoon.
in between dad had a fall and hit his head. He had instant bruising, swelling and a terrible headache. as a former army medic i knew what that meant . My mother who arrived there after did not and the nurse practitioner on duty could not be bothered.
in that situation you get him to the hospital right away and you dont let him go to sleep. He went to sleep that night around 8 pm and never woke up again.

I blame the nurse for knowing better and being indifferent , i dont blame the staff because they were short handed and over whelmed. its got to be one of the worse jobs you can have. the fact you volunteered to help is a credit to you.

Those are state funded.
Yes, the federal government budgets for Medicaid. It's a shared partnership between the federal government and individual states, with the federal government contributing a significant portion of the program's costs. In fact, the federal government typically covers a larger share of Medicaid funding than states do.

Interesting. I had a friend take over his mothers home in his name to guard her assets. He said she had to be free of assets for 5 years to qualify for state benefits or senior housing. Also you have to get a living trust he said but others would know better than I.
A "Lady Bird Deed," also known as an "enhanced life estate deed," is a legal document that allows property owners to transfer real estate to a beneficiary upon their death while retaining full control and use of the property during their lifetime. This type of deed avoids probate and can be a tool for Medicaid estate planning.

What about people who fall ill and they want to attach to property. A friend who passed but his family was living in moms house. The state said they could live in house until she died then they sold it to recoop care money spent.

a few of the much more expensive nursing homes are OK but the majority are for the Medicaid people who go there to die.

My sister works in one and she hates the Alzheimer floor. Those patients are out of control and often violent. When she gets scratched she has to hope it doesn't get infected.
Yes the “3rd floor” of the place I visited was the permanent spot. Last week the funeral people wheeled out a bagged body to an suv.

We are a connected world like it or not. Eventually you will get old and will need someone for help. I’m seeing this up close. The people we push down will be the one changing your diaper later on. Count on it. Like a 🔒.
ya know what I’m liking this version of you much better than the version that talks in riddles lol. You’re sounding human. Keep it up
