THE TRUMP 2024 THREAD

I just disagree with Fain. They can be useful for one industry for a short time but tariffs destroy trading relationships and hurt consumers and many times actually backfire on the workers it’s supposed to protect. It’s not my opinion. It’s demonstrated deeply in economics history.

Protectionism sucks. This is something that I’ve taken from my Ron Paul days and he was exactly right about it.
But it's ok that they do it to us?

Of course it’s not ok. But it’s counterproductive to engage in escalatory protectionism.

This guy with his tariffs is like an angry 7 year old with a samurai sword. It’s dangerous. And stupid.

He’s breaking his own agreements with our neighbors. How :censored2:ing stupid is this guy? Or is he just greedy and corrupt?

And Ron Paul disagrees with you about Ukraine. He says it’s just proxy war based on lie after lie.

You didn’t vote for Obama, but you did vote for this guy.

So no negotiations with other countries to open their markets? Let them keep their protectionism while we take it up the wazoo?

Like your neighbor borrowing sugar from you, and then you go to your neighbor to get some sugar and they charge you $50. And then the neighbor screams. You’re being unfair because you won’t give the $50. And you demand $50 from them next time. Lol doesn’t make sense.

I think you're confused. You seem to think that when you vote for someone you have to always agree with everything they've ever said or claim to believe.
No you’re confused because you accuse people all of a sudden believing what Trump is doing this OK because Trump is doing it. That is entirely not true. I also like Ron Paul and I also disagree with him on the use of tariffs. Matter fact, the person you voted for last time kept Trump’s tariffs on China. The world did not end.

And things are escalating again. I think the fact that Biden kept the tariffs illustrates how dangerous they are. They stick around longer than is often desired. They become entrenched. They escalate until it's not just a trade war any longer... We would be wise to tread carefully.

Push economically as hard as he can is what Trump should do. Let freedom ring.

China scored 9 out of 100 and was rated “not free” in the Freedom in the World 2025 report by the Washington-based nongovernmental organization (NGO) Freedom House, which ranked 195 countries and 13 territories on political rights and civil liberties for 2024.
