THE TRUMP 2024 THREAD

Haha I already work full time hours just not at ups, part time hours ain’t enough to pay the bills

But seriously? Who’s going to fill all the vacant jobs left by immigrants on top of new manufacturing jobs? Where are these people going to come from?

This is stuff we should have been planning and preparing for

nearly 20%of prime-age adults—approximately 24 million Americans aged 25-54 — are not working. The vast majority of these people, roughly 21 million, are not even looking for work and are therefore “out of the labor force.” Only three million prime-age adults are seeking work and so are “unemployed”.

Lots of people have given up on finding meaningful work. Not reflected just unemployment numbers, but not even bothering anymore. Good paying jobs that are not just jobs but careers would get many of them back in the labor force. Now and in the future.

Mr Blob, the current administration is not even talking about creating ‘career’ type jobs.

I’m all for bringing jobs back here if that’s the plan. I would much rather pay more for quality stuff instead of cheap Chinese crap that ends in the landfills

China is one of the biggest contributors to climate change and reducing global shipping help a lot also

And I do not think Trump wants to stop the flow of legal immigrants who want to come here, hopefully there will be some solution to the immigration issue and quality people that want to come here can legally.

What is the current plan? I’ve heard multiple contradicting plans regarding the tariffs

Is the goal to bring jobs to America or to open free trade fully?
If you open free trade fully you create jobs. If a country refuses to eliminate tariffs then manufacturers in that country will likely, depending on the product, open a factory in the U.S. to avoid the tariff.

So if trump keeps tariffs in place it will create jobs in America and if he removes the tariffs and gets free trade it will create jobs in America

Although I guess if anything happens in the middle of that will be a colossal failure, so we’re just playing chicken with our economy.

Either complete full trade across the whole word or heavy tariffs in place permanently with the goal of moving everything to America and eliminating income tax

You don't seem to understand what has happened to the country because of so called "free" trade. Most of our population used to be middle class. Not anymore. We've racked up huge deficits trying to keep everything together but that ultimately led to an unsustainable path servicing the debt. If the country is to remain solvent, not financially collapse, we have to get back to a system where the American Dream is obtainable. Otherwise we'll continue to march to financial oblivion with wealth concentrated in fewer and fewer hands while most scramble to work two or more jobs just to exist. If you don't want Trump to try then you're accepting the status quo and a bleak future for your children. No one else has stuck their neck out and if Trump is thwarted then highly likely no one ever will again. You dyed in the wool Democrats are determined to derail Trump because his success will hurt your party's chances. Better start thinking in terms of what's best for the country.
