Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.
I don’t think so.I truly believe you would've done a better job at it over the last week.

You don’t have to goad china into being a bad actor.
i think you totally missed the point here. the strategy is not specific to any one country its a complete revamp of our trade / tariff policy. we are now entering the next phase of that strategyThe strategy was to box China in. He couldn’t do that without leveling tariffs on others as well, to at least appear fair. This exposes China as a global scumbag. Trade partnerships with allies will happen.

He said he would jack up the tariffs even more on any country that raised their tariffs rates.
EU announced increased tariffs, he announces a 90 day pause.
He is backing down and taking the off ramp. He is gonna claim his very minor victory instead of driving the economy off a cliff.
They gotta kiss the ring now. What’s wrong with that? You prefer our president kiss their asses instead? I’m not saying we don’t need them, but part of this new alignment is making them understand that they need us more, we’re the big dog, not them. I don’t have a problem with that.Hopefully our trade partners and allies will be able to fit in a lot of personal compliments to him over the next 90 days. Nice hair, you're the best golfer/dealmaker, you should be on the $100 bill, statues of you should be built, etc.

They are very aware of the real numbers. Wouldn't come as a shock to them. Any resistance is they're wanting to keep a competitive advantage in their market while being free to do well in our market to the detriment of our own manufacturers.Neville Chamberlain territory? Our trade partners and allies aren't Nazi Germany.
But yes, we could've talked real numbers instead of fake numbers with them and shown them what the stick was if they didn't want to cooperate.

Exactly. It’s better than having to hold Biden’s hand to get him off stage, though.

Let's be clear about Trump's "fake numbers." Those are derived from the clear advantage other countries have in trade with the U.S. with their protectionist policies. You may feel they're contrived but all those countries know that they've been given a free ride from the U.S. for a very long time. Trump is saying if they want to participate in the world's biggest economy then they'll have to start ponying up. Because too many American citizens are being left behind while the rest of the world advances.
Obviously. But it looked better to have a longer list. It was performance art. But, the results are all that matter. The real numbers would come as a shock to a lot of Trump voters who have been referring to the fake tariff numbers in their arguments over the last week.
Some of the highest tariff numbers given on that dumb board were simply small and/or poor countries that obviously can't be nearly as much from us as we buy from them.
But he's hitting them because they are extremely protectionist. It's not right that they make money off our market but won't even let our goods be sold there. China is the absolute worst for this. They only buy what they absolutely need like soybeans when they can't get it elsewhere. Or aircraft parts. Won't let our cars into their market. And they steal intellectual property. The real numbers would come as a shock to a lot of Trump voters who have been referring to the fake tariff numbers in their arguments over the last week.

Did you know that Ireland, population 5.3 million, imports more American goods than China does? The real numbers would come as a shock to a lot of Trump voters who have been referring to the fake tariff numbers in their arguments over the last week.

Neville Chamberlain in that you're wanting appeasement even if it's to our detriment.Neville Chamberlain territory? Our trade partners and allies aren't Nazi Germany.
