LOL Good one.
They take most of the makeup off, although he would still come home with it in his ears and such. Most of the zombies just wore the dark and pale colored makeup and old clothes from the wardrobe dept. Sometimes the directors would tell them to roll around on the ground to get dirtier and get leaves all over them. It was the "Hero Zombies" that get the extensive latex makeup jobs and sometimes wore full masks in the closeup scenes. Jeffrey wore a mask one time, he played about four or five different zombies on this show. He said that one of the zombies he played had "white-colored women's pants", as he called them. In another scene, he is standing next to a zombie that gets shot and the back of his head explodes. Jeffrey worked from 6AM to 2PM today, he just got home and went to take a nap so he can give us a play by play description of the show tonight.
Thats a character from the comic book, a woman named Michonne. She did have two armless zombies on leashes and she was using a sword. It looked like season three starts at the local county jail.

I am actually disappointed, my son's closeups weren't used. It took a week to shoot the twenty minutes that was used where the farm gets attacked. My son was in all of those scenes where the barn burned down. That barn was built special for the series, it was designed to fall down a certain way.

I believe she had them on chains because the other zombies wouldn't attack her because of the smell surrounding her would be so strong that the zombies would not think she is human. I also believe in the comic book, one of those armless zombies was Michonne's boyfriend before he died.
By the way, this message is to all you dedicated Walking Dead followers(I know who you are): Ten bucks from each of you, delivered by the end of this week or I will regurgitate every thing I read in the Walking Dead Comics and ruin at least the next five seasons for you. I am not charging an arm or a leg, just ten bucks.
hint: that arm comment is one of the many spoilers to come if you don't pay up.

The two zombies in the comic were Michone's boyfriend and friend. The arms and jaws were removed so she can chain them and us them as escorts to avoid zombies much like Rick and Glenn used guts to camouflage their smell in season 1.
Season 3 will see them move into the prison as in the comic.
