Interesting although I don’t think he means what you think it means.

I will say that he is running the Teamsters on what he feels is a populous agenda. His internal polling has shown him the vast majority of the members are unhappy with the Democrats. He can live and die on that he’s a big boy.

Having said that right to work is not necessarily a deal killer for a Union. I work in right to work state. we have 100% participation in package Car and Feeders. And we run into the 90% range with part-time employees in the hub. 10% that we may not get are employees that stay less than a year. Close to 2000 employees.
I see it is more an issue with public employee unions forcing everyone to join and those unions tend to spend more effort on politics than helping their members.

I just hate rtw and hate the idea of him being soft on it at all, and wish he’d be using his messaging and pro Republican support to try and get more against it

That’s awesome it’s still working well in your area, I just wish it wasn’t even an option. If you don’t want to pay union dues than don’t work at a union job

Especially when unions are underrepresented now, there’s no excuse. You have MORE non union options than unions, go work at Amazon or fed ex if you want to deliver packages and not pay dues

He’s been pushing the Pro act pretty hard and I don’t think he’s a friend of right to work.

We’ve been fighting right to work for decades with moderate to low success. He feels he’s trying something different.

People should join unions willingly but I also agree the freeloaders shouldn't also benefit from union gains.

It also doesn’t help that some of our Union brothers don’t understand what right to work means and what it doesn’t

Right to work DOES NOT mean the company can fire you whenever they want if you are working under a collective bargaining agreement.

Do these people change their minds about unions after the unions save their jobs or do they continue being leeching freeloaders?
I never had one change their mind, but we did have one driver that never joined the union and even crossed the picket line in 97 get fired, and at least had the decency to decline representation from us

We had two drivers cross the picket line in 1997. Both were Union. One quit about six months later the other one was terminated a few years later and did not get his job back.

That’s someone I can still respect even if I disagree with them

Maybe respect is too strong of a word, but I respect them sticking by their choice

Do you think he declined representation out of morals and being consistent or because he didn’t trust you guys?

We had a few guys cross in 97 I think out of all that crossed only one actually made it to retirement the rest all got fired. One went into management and eventually got fired.
