I'm not sure what the SS sniper could see. It appears he lifts his head up to get a better view . I'm into wildlife photography and there are times when i' staring through the telephoto lens when i have to take my eye away from the lens to get perspective of the area.

I can't accept that the shooter was as close as he was and it had to be super confirmed that he was a threat by the counter-sniper team(s) at a minimum. If you're looking through a scope or binoculars at that distance you can see everything.
From the moment he started to climb side of building until he started to shoot was just a few minutes. Witnesses tried to get SS/law enforcement attention. An FBI agent told someone there that a local cop climbed up to take a look and when he got to top the gunman pointed his rifle at him and he immediately fell to the ground. That was when the gunman opened fire.

Could the counter-snipers not see the guy and that he had a rifle the whole time he was on the roof of that building and take action? That was their one job. I just took out some binoculars and checked out a spot I know is 500 feet away to make sure I'm not crazy in thinking I could spot a guy with a rifle at that distance.

I'm not sure what the SS sniper could see.

How could the counter-sniper team's counter fire have been nearly immediate if they couldn't clearly see the shooter?

They'd better because I'm imagining where we might be right now if Trump hadn't gotten super lucky and it's obviously not good.
the good news i guess is that its been over 40 years since the last time a shooter got this close.
what you see here though is representative of the DEI concept. midget secret service agents protecting a 6 .5 guy and men in drag wearing admirals uniforms.

the contours of that roof have me thinking they could see the shooter but maybe not the rifle until he raises it up to fire.

I'd guess they looked at it as just another routine rally and were complacent. The gunman obviously exposed a flaw in their security procedures. Just because you've swept an area doesn't mean someone can't come in later. Any rooftop with a line of sight within range should be constantly monitored. With today's technology they should've had drones in the air. And Trump should've had a much larger security detail.

Even if that were true, a scoped shot at 160 yards from a prone position can't be instantaneous. The shooter never should have been able to beat a counter-sniper team watching him closely to the draw.

Thank god the kid was a wimp. 150 yds with a fair scope is cake. Hell, I could hit someone with iron sights at that range. Maybe not a head shot but definitely torso.
Had he aimed Center Mass we’d be having a different discussion.
I will never vote republican anything but I am appalled , disgusted and infuriated this happened. This is the USA , not a banana republic

A banana republic is a country with an economy of state capitalism, whereby the country is operated as a private commercial enterprise for the exclusive profit of the ruling class. “The United States doesn't fully meet the definition of a banana republic—we don't have an economy dependent on resources, like bananas. But in terms of unstable politics in which government officials misuse powers and the courts to punish foes, the U.S. resembles that term more every day. The concluded hush-money trial of former (future?) President Donald Trump is a case in point.”

agreed , i think the counter sniper had his eye off the target at the wrong time. when you look at the video it appears he had that O :censored2: moment and then returned to the scope and starting firing. His barrel moves all over the place and i cant see how he fired an accurate shot. Thats the foreground counter sniper. if you watch the guy in the back he is more poised and relaxed . I'm wondering if may have fired the kill shot because it appears he shoots and then stops focusing through his scope. all speculation well find out in about 9 months or so when they get the report heavily redacted
