If he does end up looking like a fool, every congressional Republican in a potential swing district could be defeated by their blue-haired opponent in the midterms.
Would be cool if it created a perfect middle ground for a candidate for both sides to agree on

Id really like to vote for Tulsi Gabbard for president, assuming she’s not a Russian asset lol, although I didn’t really like how she handled the signal controversy, but I’m not giving up hope for her yet

I think left-wing candidates will be less likely to moderate for the upcoming elections if the Republicans become weaker.

the USA is too divided. There is no way to have a middle ground anymore. The two sides are polar opposite. The MSM and politicians has made sure we are divided in every area.

You’re both probably right, I just wish both sides could kind of get a more libertarian stance and compromise.

I truly believe the American people have way more in common than we have differences. The media, and social media, is fueled on anger and division though

The Trump administration should be using real export tariff numbers if they've got a legitimate tariff argument to make. Not making up fake ones.
my understanding of what trump showed yesterday is not simply the old school calculation of trade and tariffs, but a comprehensive calculation that includes tariffs they charge us , currency manipulation, products and services that are not allowed to compete at all and the vat taxes they charge.
the calculation is beyond my two years of calculus but its meant to keep countries from reacting to increased tariffs by cheating us in other ways.
china is a classic example when trump imposed tariffs on them the first time around they manipulated their currency to keep their prices cheap and competitive.

Ben Shapiro on this issue during his show today:

“I've said this a thousand times, this is not coming from a place of I want Trump to fail.

It's coming from a place of if he engineers a recession, based on these sorts of tariffs, which seems increasingly likely if you were to stick with this. If you were to do that sort of thing, all of the amazing things that need to happen that he is pursuing and that his administration is filled with good people who want to do, all that stuff goes by the wayside. A bad economy kills everything around it.

It is the neutron bomb of politics. If you drop the neutron bomb of politics, a recession into the lap of this administration, it doesn't just destroy this administration's economic agenda, it destroys the administration wholesale. That is what happens in American politics.

Recessions destroy administrations. And by the way, everyone close to them, all the tech bros get destroyed. All the business people get destroyed.

It's really important not to self-engineer a bad economy. Really quite important. It's, it is frustrating at the very least because this has not been well justified by literally anyone, including members of the Trump administration.”
this is a wonderful illustration of why our government does not work. Our leaders prior to trump never ever lead with conviction anymore. their is no innovation, no accountability and absolutely no other principle than that of staying in power.

you will never ever fix anything in life if you dont plant your damn feet and say this crap needs to change.

I've often told friends and family that if i had somehow become president then fixing the trade issues and fixing how government operates and wastes money would easily hold me to be a one termer. the reason being there would be a lot of pain cutting out the waste and corruption since it is so entrenched in every level of our government.

We should all celebrate that we actually have a president that is willing to take on this challenge and risk everything to fix what he believes needs to be fixed. the video is out there to show he strongly believes in what he is doing and has always believed it. it absolutely is not a campaign speech but something he's been talking about for decades.

We finally have a leader thats not taking polls and then regurgitating what the polls tell him he should say.

right or wrong the guy actually brought his own belief system to the game.

You're probably right. Trump has got a little over a year til the midterms. He's either going to look like a genius or a fool. I'm betting on a lot of these countries opening up their economies to our products and building more factories here. Trump already has about $6 trillion in pledged investment in the U.S.
history tells us the party in power will lose ground in the mid terms. to continue that trend the dems have to find an effective message that sells to the voters.

Let's just hope if the Democrats win the White House in '28 they won't immediately reverse everything Trump has done.

Dems biggest messaging the past 8 years has been “we’re not trump”

It worked in 2020, it hurt them in 2024, and if Trump keeps things up it will help them again in midterms and 2028

It was inflation that primarily got Republicans back in power. I'm 100% for Trump doing what's necessary to rebuild the country but if there's still a lot of economic pain next year, well, people have short memories.

it will be a mixed bag. Doge and his border controls are very popular. he's let it swing on the economic factors.

his goals are sealed border.
the end of phentanol.
slim government.
balanced budget
paid off national debt.
fair trade with all 220 countries
the end of two wars.

any three of those would get him the title of one of the greatest.
if he accomplishes all that and he does have a plan to do so, then he becomes the greatest president since lincoln. mayb the greatest ever.

make no qualms trumps ego is insatiable. he wants all the marbles.

doing great job of that
the end of phentanol.
Fentanyl, will never happen. The war on drugs is a failure and waste of money

balanced budget
paid off national debt.
Trump spends almost more than anyone and looks to be continuing that trend
fair trade with all 220 countries
Not doing fair trade
the end of two wars.
Already looking to start a war with Iran, escalating in Yemen, gave billions to Israel
