Trump Tariffs has Countries ready to retaliate?

It's fine if reciprocal tariffs are actually reciprocal tariffs. But they're not actually reciprocal tariffs if they're based on a made up percentage that Trump says we're being tariffed at when we're not.

someone here (@Doublestandards) made the argument that trumps columbia numbers were made up and that columbia was at zeo tariffs. i do a search and find out that columbia charges a 19 percent VAT tax which is a tariff tax like any other. I'm not going down that rabbit hole. of trying to argue that trumps numbers are made up. i told you before specifically what they are looking at per their explanation. I dont have the expertise to argue with their numbers and neither do you.
That vat tax is a consumption tax and exempt when exporting to other countries

i have heard from leaders on both sides for fifty years say this is exactly what we should do. you've seen the video's of pelosi her saying the same stuff 30 years ago. if you're going to do true reciprocal tariffs then that is a complete revamp of how we have done tariffs in the past . in the past we basically did charity work where we allowed other countries to screw us to prop up their economies, governments or to gain political favor. what your now seeing is a battle of the MAGA's. Every other country has taken the position that they will help their countries first by setting tariff policy that protects their countries industries that are most fragile to outside competition. in reality we're now doing the same thing and we're late to the party.
A lot has changed in 30 years technology wise. Most those jobs are not coming back.

This plan was done in a very bad manner, not in the manner democrats would have done. It’s antagonistic nationalist garbage.

Comparing this stupidity to what democrats hoped to accomplish decades ago in the past is very disingenuous.

All you’re left with is higher taxes for the working poor, not better jobs for the uneducated and an excuse to afford billionaire’s tax cuts at the same time.

This is absolutely going to decimate the working poor in this country.

It’s just embarrassing at this point. When they lose the elections they were rigged and stolen. When they win it’s what the American people wanted and the elections were too big to rig. Now they’re saying the Wisconsin elections were rigged

When stock market is up it’s because Trump is a genius. When they’re down it’s because Trump is a genius.

A lot of good people who vote for Trump. A whole lot of cult members also though
Hey, who was running the country during the last four years?

Yah, and if we support Trump we're in a cult.

tariffs are the same thing. they're both designed to make items you import more expensive to give domestic products an advantage. I've paid both . if you dont know what you're talking about its better you just move on.

oe Biden, June 11, 2007 (Senate Foreign Relations Committee Hearing):
"We’ve got countries hitting us with tariffs three, four times higher than what we charge them. It’s not a level playing field—it’s a steep hill our exporters have to climb while their goods roll right into our markets. That’s got to change if we’re serious about fairness."

So why are putting a tariff on countries with little to no tariff on us that we have a trade surplus with? Why do you keep ignoring that

But that money gets passed on to the taxpayer in the form of higher prices from the seller, who will raise prices to offset the cost of tariffs

As Warren Buffett says “who do you think pays the tariffs? The tooth fairy?”

You know what's funny? You're making the same argument that Republicans make against raising taxes. Who do you think pays the taxes? The consumer, not the company who passed along the taxes in higher prices.
