You know what's funny? You're making the same argument that Republicans make against raising taxes. Who do you think pays the taxes? The consumer, not the company who passed along the taxes in higher prices.
You know what’s funny? If we taxed that money it would atleast have the potential to be used for productive purposes in America, and with republicans control in Congress, they could have chosen how it was spent

Instead we’re now taxing Americans up to 50% on goods, the stock market is crumbling, and we have nothing to show for it

Well what's funny about that? Are you sure being a stand up comedian is the right career choice for you?

I pointed out the other day that when Republicans wanted to axe Obamacare they didn't have a replacement for it. And when Democrats pushed electrifying everything, especially cars, they didn't have the grid or the technology to make it happen. Likewise Trump is imposing tariffs to force the return of manufacturing to the U.S. Until that happens we don't have the ability to produce many of the goods that are essential. The factories aren't here yet. That threatens to unravel all of this so he's taking a great risk. We'll have to see if this works. And it better get real results soon before next year's midterms.

No :censored2: it’s not funny, it’s stupid. I was mocking your dumb point

Why would you want to tax consumers and get nothing out of it? We instead could have gotten that money from taxes and let the Republican controlled Congress choose where it went

Instead now we’re taxing the consumers up to 50% and it benefits absolutely no one and we get nothing from it except higher prices

I thought he was raising tariffs to eliminate the income tax?

Or was it to stop the flow of fentanyl?

Or I thought it was to eliminate unfair tariffs against us and get free trade back?

How is it that everyone is saying different things, including him, when these points all contradict each other?

I've "lost" about $100,000 in the stock market ( 401K ).
And it has not bothered me.
What I enjoy reading about is all the monies members of Congress have lost.
Seems too many have been using their positions to enrich themselves, something the common man has been unable to do.

It's amazing that you are so self unaware that you think people don't realize when you're mocking something. Or that they're mocking you. Get a grip. We don't know yet how all of this will shake out. You may be 100% right but you don't know yet. Neither do the liberal talking heads you listen to.

You can't seem to grasp that it's all the above.

You can’t seem to grasp that it doesn’t make sense for it to be all of the above. If the goal of the tariffs is to get free trade then why would companies bring manufacturing here?

If the goal of tariffs is to eliminate income tax, then how could that be possible while also attaining free trade?

How can he use tariffs as a bargaining tool to strength the border if he also needs to keep the tariffs in place to replace income tax and encourage manufacturing here?

First off highly doubtful income tax will end unless there's another system put in place like a consumption tax. We owe way too much money. You need to realize that Trump is both a great negotiator and a major bull :censored2:ter. Instead of stressing over everything he says try considering everything he's doing is toward getting us out of debt while making us stronger. He's certainly trying things no one else would. We'll see how it goes.

So we wouldn't have an income tax but we would have permanent tariffs and a consumption tax in its place? Would the consumption tax also replace state/local sales tax or be in addition to it?

Trump supporters have had theories about what Trump is doing. Shouldn't he be the one explaining what he's doing?

I would say yes, although I think he and his administration have the idea if they give away their plans, the other side will be moving against him quickly to stop it. I believe he is telegraphing much of what he wants to do with closing government agency down. No idea if he’ll be successful.

Yes we're all speculating. I think in due time it'll be clear what he's at least trying to do. But in the middle of negotiations you don't tip your hand. We'll see how it goes.

ultimately we have to decide if the end goal is worth it .

i read that we're up to 16 trillion dollars of stimulus spent the past 5 years . thats all government spending.
trumps plan is to go from public tax dollar spending to private sector spending and to find alternative ways to fund the government then simply taking it from the taxpayer .
if thats what we want then we have to ride this out.
One way or another it's always gonna come from the taxpayer.
