Yeah because it takes a bit of time for economic down turns like this to take effect and sink i
everything we buy from china i dont have to buy. my food and my gas are US produced. I have plenty of clothes dont need to buy anymore anytime soon. My house is completely kept up so i don't need to do any major improvements anytime soon.
My vehicles are in great shape and american made.

I don't need anything the dollar store, walmart or amazon is selling anytime soon.

Imagine what we would have heard from Trump and the Republicans if it had been Biden and the Democrats doing this.

it truly is incredible you guys just don’t care about the stock market anymore and maga is talking like socialists all of a sudden

Peoples pensions and retirement funds are linked to the stock market. Just because rich people are part of it too doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect the working class

Imagine what we would have heard from Trump and the Republicans if it had been Biden and the Democrats doing this.

Okay. That doesn’t apply to the majority.
Even if you’re not buying from the tariffed countries, not just china, you are paying the tariff price rates that keep the American products you’re buying competitive.

Just because you’re not technically paying the tariff, doesn’t mean you’re not paying tariff prices.

I’m for tariffs, but this is just ridiculous, I’m not for these tariffs or the rhetoric coming out of him about why.

its a consumer tax on items you can decide to do without.

what prices have gone up as a result? if you guys are all going to argue that we're in financial trouble because the stock market went down the past week then i should be able to argue that this tariff plan has had no affect on anything else. If you're going to argue that it will affect future pricing then i should be able to argue the possible future benifits of this plan.

so you think we should keep sending our jobs to foriegn countries? thats what is really going on here.

It hasn’t gone into effect yet. The markets are viewing things from future effects it will cause. It’s not the end all be all of economics, but right now it is showing a pretty grim economic future.

Nope. I said I don’t mind tariffs, I think this whole 10% blanket tariff on everyone and everything is malicious. I think it is more of a libertarian regressive tax pipe dream than actual tariffs.

Right wing libertarians have dreamed of a way to eliminate the income tax and replace it with a consumption tax that is super regressive. When you are circumventing congress to tax majority of the good in the country to raise federal tax revenue while slashing billionaire tax rates, it’s not something any left wing individual would ever support.

They would never get away with a 10% sales tax because the president doesn’t have power over that. 10% consumption tax on all goods through tariffs is very possible for a president to do. Though as they are seeing it has much more negative effects than a sales tax would.

Some of the tariffs are good and meaningful. They could really help working class people and the industries that supply good jobs

But you have to view this policy as a whole.

if congress feels circumvented they have the means to stop him. clearly congress supports him

You are very delusional about all of this.
They are pursuing putting back in place checks and balances on president tariff policy.

They are realizing we have to take the tariff button away from this idiot before he causes a global recession.

There isn’t room to negotiate with a mad man who is accusing you of things you are not doing. His tariff board was a huge joke.

Right now most allies are calmly offering the dude an off ramp to save face with. This isn’t so much of a negotiation as placating a child’s tantrum.

I'd be amazed if Congressional Republicans had the guts to wrangle the votes needed for a veto override.

Libertarians are not happy with any of this.
