Why is it ok for any nation to dominate any other nation in this day and age? Russia feels threatened is ok but too bad for the smaller nations around Russia if they feel threatened by Russia? There's a NATO in the world because of Russia. Russian threats to expand communism worldwide is what got them NATO. They didn't suddenly become trustworthy when the Soviet Union collapsed. If they want NATO to become obsolete then they have to open up their economy. Get rid of almost all of their nukes. Have free and fair elections. Until then they are a dictatorship that wants to expand its borders.
