Yeah sucks but happens every year after peak, if you were hired in the past 2 years you haven’t experienced it. In our building they offer you to work preload and local sort to get your 8 hours. It was evident they were going to go aggressive on the cost cutting when they didn’t use helpers or pvds during the week before Christmas, in our building anyways.

What you are saying is counter-intuitive.
Helpers and PVD's are cost cutting moves.....they are paid less and cut down on over-time.
Putting the highest paid employees in a traditionally lowest paid position is anything but cost cutting. Mgt. does this for contractual reasons....otherwise you would be laid off. In other words they have to.....depending on the local language and such.
Contractors in feeders are the equivalent.

It’s what UPS does. Happened to me twice. Once after 911 they sent bottom 10% full time package drivers back to the hub to get their hours.
Again after the 2008 recession. Sent the bottom 10% full time feeder drivers back to the hub or package car. But we were not allowed to go back to our old centers. We lost our package car seniority so we became bottom guys in package car. Most of us just went back to the hub instead of running blind on different routes everyday
