part-timers in our hub are getting $200/week to just show up, which comes out (w/ starting wage) to over $20/hrNew PT hires are being paid $15 to $20/hr. Almost as much as a new delivery driver for 4 years.

the members said.....*crickets*The members said no.
In negotiations offers come and go. The final offer is the one you vote on. This clause is the reason we went on strike without a contract vote. If we would have voted in 97 it would have passed.Don't you think the teamsters WOULD LET THEIR OWN MEMEBERS KNOW IT WAS A FINAL OFFER!!!!!!
Good lord our union is a cluster.
The majority did not care enough to even vote. The members said no.
Unfortunately, this is how I see it.In negotiations offers come and go. The final offer is the one you vote on. .
Almost 100k members voted. Id say thats a good amount. This garbage law was implemented when UPS wasnt a revolving door and more people planned to stay. You expect people who are only planning to work here 6 months to vote on others futures. That would be wrong for them to do if anything. That law needs to go or at least require 1 year seniority to be counted otherwise its a scam to pass whatever they want.the members said.....*crickets*
With the new $13/hr starting wage it comes out to $23/hr on a 20 hour week. I guess the company values a new PT hire more then a new delivery driver still in progression.part-timers in our hub are getting $200/week to just show up, which comes out (w/ starting wage) to over $20/hr
I could agree on making a new hire wait a year before they could vote. Will the IBT give up the dues money for that year? I doubt it.Almost 100k members voted. Id say thats a good amount. Hey @Tony Q , you mentioned somewhere that one local (89?) had a 20% participation rate.
Is there somewhere we can see this info for each Local?
The majority did not care enough to even vote.
The Teamsters could have easily summized a low voter turn out by using the strike vote as a guide.
The Teamsters sent out tons of vote yes propaganda.....yet there was no mention of non-votes being essentially counted as yes votes. They encouraged us to vote yes but NEVER STATED a 2/3 or 50% + was required to reject.
plus...we were never informed this was a final offer. or as in the past A Last, Best & Final Offer. The Union stated it may be open to renegotiate 22.4 language and the 15$ demand
Legal action is on the horizon as are major union opt out of dues.

Just so everyone is aware, this ‘browned out’ guy is not a plant from an anti-union legislative group. Social media is getting overrun by outside groups. This person is a fraud and has worked to do one thing, freeload off the union. This fraud has been stirring the pot on contract with the sole purpose of riling us up to do this outsiders bidding. Don’t be fooled.
It sounds to me like you are more upset about being union, than having the contract ratified. The "scam" is not specific to the Teamsters but closed shops which do not allow us to democratically spend our confiscated dues money how we choose to.Almost 100k members voted. It's an embarrassment to "mid-range" seniority part-timers who're making significantly less than a new-hire. There's plenty of grumbling from these PT's in our building. With the new $13/hr starting wage it comes out to $23/hr on a 20 hour week. I guess the company values a new PT hire more then a new delivery driver still in progression.
Ups knows about said clause. That’s why ups wanted a vote on last best final offer in 97.The members have spoken, mainly by NOT speaking.
It's funny to me that UPS pushed so hard to get everyone to vote, and came up with LESS than 50%....WHICH worked out in their favor!
This is how a lot of the younger PT Union members feel. Why vote? The system is rigged. So why have an election? it. Your vote don’t matter anyways. Make it communistic.
Embarrassment is not the word I would use. How about a slap in the face. The company values an employee on their first day walking through the door more then someone who has worked here for years. It's an embarrassment to "mid-range" seniority part-timers who're making significantly less than a new-hire. There's plenty of grumbling from these PT's in our building.
