People don't care who delivers their Amazon. Their first priority is cost followed by speed. What uniform they wear is way down the list.
Sounds like a good chance for you boys and girls across the pond to show what you're made of and grow the business. We don't do much Amazon stuff here in the UK, mainly Alcohol at Christmas and volume from Europe but tomorrow we're being hit big time. DHL have told them they can't handle the extra volume so it's been passed to us. Supposedly 7 trailers of smalls left today with another 40,000 pieces being readied overnight.
Count me in. Old Jim Casey has to be rolling in his grave right now or looking down at his company sadly shaking his head thinking I did not leave the company like this. My number one priority was the people... The loaders, unloaders and especially the drivers who represented the company. All the company cares about is the bottom line and not the people.Agreed---The way it is now most people don't even see who's delivering to their house anyway. With any luck you "may" hear a doorbell or someone knocking but even that-- not so much anymore. At my house its hit and run for the UPS driver. If I'm quick I can see his dirty truck going down the road. The FedEx guy at least says hello and the mail lady brings it right to my house if it don't fit in the mailbox. I've said many times---I don't care who delivers stuff-- as long as its on time and not damaged. I'm sure if you polled 100 people 99 of them would agree with me.
That is a cute myth!Count me in. Old Jim Casey has to be rolling in his grave right now or looking down at his company sadly shaking his head thinking I did not leave the company like this. Did you know Jim?That is a cute myth!
Jimbo cared about his company UPS more than anything else including a family!
However, he did believe that UPSers were his most important asset in making his beloved UPS the best it could be.
Did anyone?Did you know Jim?
I thought you'd been here since day 1 old man. LolDid anyone?

So what you're saying is he was the antichrist. No I did not but I related to George more than the other 4 founders.
He brought metrics, measurement, financial goals and put in place the Industrial Engineering Department.
Not what I would say but you are welcome to.So what you're saying is he was the antichrist.

More like (or maybe to clarify) ... he saw the Unionization of UPS as inevitable and he invited the Teamsters because they were a reasonable Union not dominated by Communists and/or Socialists.Didn't he invite the Teamster to be part of UPS because he wanted a reliable workforce?
It dose not take a business degree to figure out that REVENUE and PROFITS are two different things.....And Vegas casinos lose money on the buffets.
The streaming is an enticement to get them hooked on a Prime membership.
They retain 95% of Prime signups.
The average Prime member spends $1,200 on the site annually, compared to $700 for nonmembers.
This keeps consumers "in house"... Last year more than twice as many shoppers went directly to Amazon then to Google for product searches.
Amazon's annual revenue skyrocketed from $6.9 billion in 2004 to $89 billion in 2014, and $107 billion for 2015, $129 billion 2016 (projected).
Compare that with UPS at $58 Billion. Yes Virginia, they are now larger than us x2!
They have now surpassed Wal-Mart as the most valuable retailer (market valuation) in the world. Amazon showed profits in 3 of the last 4 quarters and their sales growth is unbelievable.
