You will have to quit your full time job (which imho is a great gig) and you will be a tcd for years, 2-4 from what I am seeing now. The mass hiring of feeder guys last year resulted in a mass hiring of new full time drivers. After peak expect 40 or so feeder guys to be back in package and they will bump every body down through the layers. Orlando cutting that extra sort is why everybody is getting bumped back.
So in recap, if u do get s shot at cover driving, u will have to quit your job, will probably only work a day or two a week in the summer, will work peak from cyber Monday till Christmas Eve, than be back in the hub till summer again. During all this time you will have to be free to pick up your phone any day they call and be at work to drive. That is if u don't hit anything and are productive your first 30. Sounds like a real dumb idea to me man. Just saying.
IMHO in al honesty if u want to drive, the smartest thing for you to do is to just wait till a full time spot opens up. Tcd sounds terrible for u. Who knows when they will hire full time guys, always remember that there are guys in the hub who have 5/10 years seniority on you, and will weirdly one day want to drive and get picked over u. Just because u could be close to next on the seniority list for the last bid doesn't mean the next bid will be the same guys wanting to take a driving job.
