What's the latest on Amazon?

You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
Amazon can never make the profit that UPS does. I don't care if they've been around for 200 years.

Too much competition. And now, jet.com enters the foray.

Not looking good for Amazon and profits.
And the guy from
Jet has stated his goal is to take down Amazon.

You will have to quit your full time job (which imho is a great gig) and you will be a tcd for years, 2-4 from what I am seeing now. The mass hiring of feeder guys last year resulted in a mass hiring of new full time drivers. After peak expect 40 or so feeder guys to be back in package and they will bump every body down through the layers. Orlando cutting that extra sort is why everybody is getting bumped back.

So in recap, if u do get s shot at cover driving, u will have to quit your job, will probably only work a day or two a week in the summer, will work peak from cyber Monday till Christmas Eve, than be back in the hub till summer again. During all this time you will have to be free to pick up your phone any day they call and be at work to drive. That is if u don't hit anything and are productive your first 30. Sounds like a real dumb idea to me man. Just saying.

IMHO in al honesty if u want to drive, the smartest thing for you to do is to just wait till a full time spot opens up. Tcd sounds terrible for u. Who knows when they will hire full time guys, always remember that there are guys in the hub who have 5/10 years seniority on you, and will weirdly one day want to drive and get picked over u. Just because u could be close to next on the seniority list for the last bid doesn't mean the next bid will be the same guys wanting to take a driving job.

An actual real response! Thank you.. Yes I've contemplated what to do when I do get that option to CD or wait till full time.. I've got a good gig where I'm at.. I'm not hurting for money and can ride the jobs in the hub it as long as it takes.. Being cover, if I can clear 45k, I can make it... If 45k is hard to come by working 2-3 days a week + hub, then I'll have to really for a FT gig.. I've got plenty of away if needed to sit back and wait if I decide to go that route of CD..

And the guy from
Jet has stated his goal is to take down Amazon.

Marc Lore founded and was the CEO of Quidsi (diapers.com, soap.com)

He sold it to Amazon.

He now started jet.com and vows to take down Amazon.

But, someone by the name of Fred S vowed to take down UPS.

Didn't work out very well.

Apple took 28 years (1977-2005) to finally show a Billion dollar profit.
Many of those years it showed tiny profits or losses.

Ten years later...Apple just reported the biggest annual profit of any corporation in history with net income of $53.4 Billion.

Building brand loyalty over an extended period of time can lead to huge profits down the road.

"In a survey of 2,000 US consumers, 44 percent of respondents said they go directly to Amazon to start their product searches. That compares to 34 percent who said they use search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo to search for products. Just 21 percent of searchers said they start on a retailer site."

Apple didn't get rich until technology changed.

The iPad and iPhone, mostly the iPhone, gave Apple their wealth.

Amazon is a retailer, dabbling in streaming and cloud storage.

They will not get rich off of that.

I agree, their sales numbers are huge, but their profits won't get much bigger with all the competition.

Apple would just be a third rate computer company if it wasn't for Steve Jobs vision of the iPhone.

Where is Amazon going to get these profits from?

Amazon has an excellent return policy but if it is a low cost item they will usually tell you just to keep it if a mistake is made because it isn't worth the cost to mess with returning it. I had a cheap item I bought that was mislabeled on the website and they sent me a replacement and told me to just keep the other one.
