In some areas, when you gain seniority, your seniority date reverts back to your hire date.

See if this is true in your supplement and make sure HR doesn't screw this up.

Another hint:
Don't discussion the issue of seniority with any of your bosses or co-workers because they just may decide to see that you are laid off just before your 30...just to mess with you.

The only person you should discuss this with would be a union steward or a BA.

do you have union dues come out twice a month

I'm not sure that union dues coming out of her check is an indicator of seniority. If you'll recall, they took union dues out of the seasonal workers and then laid them off after peak.

Seeing her name on the seniority list might be an indicator but the company doesn't update the seniority list very often AND when they do update they usually screw it up. See post #10.

I've been a preloader for 4 months and joined the union.. At what point have I achieved seniority?
After you have thirty days in that aren't seasonal, unless they didn't count you as a seasonal employee. call the local union and ask if you are a member yet. They should be able to find out in a few key strokes.
