Everyone has their reasons. I don’t need to legally bind myself to someone to prove how much I love them. My gf’s a UPS driver too....she gets it. No one is ever touching my pension or getting half my house lol.

The big downside to that though is if something happens to either of you, the other has no say in any medical decisions or financial decisions. Lots of partners have been unfairly kicked out by families.

They can always get a prenup
And if one person retires before the other it could still be on their insurance and if the unfortunate event somebody passes away they would still be able to collect on the spouses pension

It’s so sad when you hear stories of gay couples who, when one gets sick or dies, the family totally ignores the fact that the couple was together for 20 years and won’t even let them in the hospital room or at the funeral. Not right.
