Preferably I like 1 hour of OT per day. A little more is fine. Less is not so fine. That 1 hour has not been there for the last few months. I'm a cover driver. Work every single day. Dispatches have been super light. Now I know one reason for that is casuals are working and they want to get them ready for peak. So the work has been more spread around for the most part.

But what I am wondering is, if this is the new trend? Lighter dispatches? With the new contract being pushed to 4 years to top pay is the company finally caving and is now willing to go on a little hiring spree? Lighten guys up. Cut down on the OT. Are the days of making 90K+ a year gone?

Now I know what's going on here, isn't going on everywhere. I'm sure plenty of centers have driving lubing up every morning. But it's just something I have been wondering. Does the new contract of 4 years to top pay have them rethinking things in terms of cutting down OT and putting more drivers on? It's slightly worrisome for me. 41.5 hours per week doesn't cut it for me.

I don't see this as a long term trend. UPS is just hoping peak will not be another disaster. I see a lot of lay offs come February. Going to be a lot of baby boomers leaving in the next 5 years also. Myself included. Package car drivers filling feeder spots and todays new hires biding their own routes.

They're just preparing for peak. Tightening areas up in my center... don't worry, come January, half the routes that are in now, will be gone.

You need to manage your money better if you can't live on 40hrs a week
Come out to the west coast especially California and see how expensive it is to live. Usually the people who keep harping on "live on 40 hours a week and the rest is gravy are usually from the south....enough said.....no offense scratch!!

Bingo. Family friend is a driver in a small rural town in Oregon. She is literally the richest person in the whole town. And it's not even close

No offense to any drivers in Mississippi or Alabama. But if you are a driver in that part of the country, you are more well off then 95% of the people in your area.

UPS doesn't care about the pay rate it's the benefits they don't want to pay. After December it's back to the same ole :censored2:.
Yep....ups got their health care issue solved...now the next contract they will go after the pensions. Make everybody into one plan then adjust the higher amounts that some plans get now into 2500 central states amount...up your years to 35...no more 80 and out...it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they tried this

ah yes, when we can file grievances again...

quick question, why can they issue warning letters and we can't file grievances during PEAK
Who says you can't file grievances during peak?!? I'm starting to get ready to file a few supervisor working grievances and make some holiday cash.
