Your pension pays 7000 at 30 years. Mine pays 3500. Sounds like an easy fix.I am in the same pension plan as @3done3togo.
The difference between him and I is I don’t whine about that which I cannot control.
One would think a "resident know it all" nearing retirement, would have a wee bit more knowledge about pension plans.Wrong.
His pension was bankrupting itself. Like others had done. Seems like all the pensions that didn’t adjust their payouts had it the worst.Your pension pays 7000 at 30 years. Mine pays 3500. Sounds like an easy fix.
I find it hard to believe that the troubled pensions are just starting to cut payouts. Cutting payouts during bad times are what some healthy plans did. I hope there will be a time they can raise them again.

The company will love that.Cease contributions.
No
No doubt about it if it is negotiated away.the pension might not be there in the future
My pension plans accrual rates have risen the last few years.I find it hard to believe that the troubled pensions are just starting to cut payouts. Cutting payouts during bad times are what some healthy plans did. I hope there will be a time they can raise them again.
Is your plan doing well? Mine has been at 1.2% for a decade now.My pension plans accrual rates have risen the last few years.
YOU SAID IT!! Not a whole lot of unity in this Union. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Its been a long time since the "one for all and all for one" train of thought flourished at UPS. Good luck getting all the people at a single center to agree let alone expecting everyone at UPS to support another regions cause.
Hes proven to be the King of Speculation and Master of the Obvious. One would think a "resident know it all" nearing retirement, would have a wee bit more knowledge about pension plans.
Yep. I would describe it as a "whats in it for me" attitude.YOU SAID IT!! Not a whole lot of unity in this Union. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
What does that mean?Is your plan doing well? Mine has been at 1.2% for a decade now.
The accrual rate. What does that mean?
I can understand someone who is already retired voting down a cut in their promised benefit and tank the fund.I agree. Who are these idiots that refuse to take benefit reductions early on when the pension can still be saved, and then tank the whole pension fund because of it?
The cuts should have been done 20+ years ago through the accrual rate. To prevent actual cuts to the retirees.I can understand someone who is already retired voting down a cut in their promised benefit and tank the fund.
Depending on the percentage of the cut of coarse and number of years before the fund is projected to tank, more than likely, before the retiree kicks the bucket, by not taking the cut, chances are he would draw more money.
