Our old guard is way behind the times.
Not really way behind the times, we email but that’s a very ineffective way because people just don’t read them. We’ve also looked into an app you can download from the App Store that gives you updates and even allows you to contact your business agent. The problem is the same problem most small to mid size organizations have, it’s very expensive. Remember we are technically at the local level not for profit organizations so the expense has to be watched. A typical app that is updated like that has a pretty heavy one time investment as well as a monthly payment that usually goes off the amount of people in your local.

Union dues…… If only we had a direct deduction that was used for politics/organizing

Most locals do not have the money to pay a technical person to do their social media or computer type stuff. So the company that was offering these services to locals was upfront around $25-$30,000 then a monthly fee of about $1.75 per member. That’s a lot of money for most locals.

Text us when we need to check the site. Cheap and instant contact. Works great for our local businesses.

They have golf outing money, scholarships money, and money to buy other things? One would think with virtual meetings, etc, you could cut some elected officials to save huge chunks of dues?

Most golf outings are charity and they are reciprocal, scholarships? Would you like us not to give scholarships those benefit the community. And what other things would you be talking about? Every dime that is spent at a local has to be accounted for, both to the members and to the government.LM2’s are A pain

Yep, no scholarships. Not my union dues responsibility. Now if anyone privately wants to donate, that is ok by me.
