710, 705?

Backpay is only guaranteed if the new contract calls for raises in the 1st and 2nd year of the contract. So backpay is not guaranteed until the contract is settled.

I find it hard to believe that the union would settle for a contract that had no raises in it until the 3rd year, and then a $2 raise. But if this was the case, there would be no retro checks.

The retro checks will be for the negotiated raise that was not paid yet. If there is no raise, there is no retro checks. Very unlikely to happen, but there are no guarantees.
Everyone is missing the point, 710 asked for an end to contract extension. Once extension ended the back pay would then have to be negotiated. But extension wasn't ended so back pay is guaranteed.

I am not missing the point. Whether the extension stays in place or whether it is ended, there is NO back pay issue at this time. Nothing is guaranteed.

The reason the rest of the country got a retro check was that the raises were specified in the Master and it passed. It was not implemented until all supplements, riders and addendums were passed. (or should I say forced on us by Hoffa).

We then got our retro check for the raise that we were due per the Master, but did not get.

There is NO passed contract for 705 and 710 calling for raises on August 1, 2013 and August 1, 2014. So there is NO back pay.

What will be negotiated is whether or not the new contract calls for raises on August 1, 2013 and August 1, 2014. If it does and it is passed, there will be a retro check. If it does not, there will be NO retro check.

I don't see this happening because their contracts usually mirror the Master with a few improvements.

But, both sides could agree that there will be no raise for August 1, 2013 and August 1, 2014 and that there will be $1.40/hr raise upon ratification to catch up to the Master wage rate. Again, I think this is slim to none, but there are no guarantees. If this was the case, there is NO back pay.

It does not matter whether the extension stays in place or not. It matters on what the new contract states about raises on August 1, 2013 and August 1, 2014. Period.

The reason they asked for the extension to be ended, was so that they could possibly call a strike. They cannot strike as long as the extension is in place.

I don't get how its such a major improvement that 710 has a marathon negotiation and the huge win is 5 hours more vacation pay? Its still not as good as 705's vacation pay. What happened to starting pay which is $6/hour lower than seasonal pay?? Why can't they get some real issues addressed??

Actually it's 50 hrs for full time/ 25hrs. part time for 2 weeks in 2015, 3 weeks in 2016, 5 weeks in 2017 & 2018. 12 months credit for seasonal and vacation drivers towards progession. Part timers get insurance for their families after l year. Any 5 in 7 workday scheduling gone.
Teamcare is here like it or not. So you strike ....you`ll still end up with it and never recoup the wages lost. Back pay would have to be renegotiated.
The problem with Teamcare is the retiree cost. No one likes screwing them. Everyone gets it. The company refuses to negotiate and legally they don't have to. They are getting out of the insurance business. They don't want to take care of people cradle to grave. Words from a Div. mngr. Every manager would love to have Teamcare. Plus you have Wall street liability.
Hoffa had the power to set the tone in the beginning. It's too late in the game.

You're dealing with Slant. He is the village idiot in a global village. Don't worry about it. You are fine. You have thoughts and beliefs and he bases his opinions on what he's told to believe. Read enough of his posts and this person says this and that person says that. If he's not led around like a dog on a leash he isn't happy. Keep fighting your fight.

Yes thoughts and beliefs no matter how wrong they are matter....hahaha Keep your head in the sand and refuse to deal with reality. This contract passes .

There are raises for 8/1/13, and 8/1/14 in the little book thingy with all the changes in contract language that accompanies the ballot.

What Article of the NMUPSA (National Agreement) specified that ??

"Monetary issues" are addressed in the supplements.

-Bug-
Like I said, the wage increases were specified in the National Master United Parcel Service Agreement. It passed. The retro check was for the $0.70/hr we did not get until Hoffa forced the supplements on us.

ARTICLE 41. FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES

Section 1. Full-time Wage Increases

All full-time employees who have attained seniority as of August 1, 2013 will receive the following general wage increases for each contract year. In the first three years of the contract, the increase will be effective on August 1. In 2016 and 2017, the increase shall be paid in two (2) equal installments. The first half of the increase shall become effective on August 1 of the specified year. The second half of the increase shall become effective on February 1 of the following calendar year. The total wage increase for the year will be as follows:

2013 seventy cents ($0.70)
2014 seventy cents ($0.70)
2015 seventy cents ($0.70)
2016 eighty cents ($0.80)
2017 one dollar ($1.00)

Full-time employees still in progression on the effective date of this Master Agreement shall receive the above contractual increases. They will be paid no less than what they are entitled to in accordance with Article 41, Section 2 below.
