I just have to say, yes it was Arizona brand, and they are known for iced tea, but in this instance it was their "watermelon" flavor which can be used in the "purple drank" drug cocktail that includes some forms of cough syrup and candy to help mask the flavor to make it more palatable.

This explains the liver damage for drug use, which the pot won't. Both though show a history of substance abuse which tends to lead to other illegal acts. I have my problems with people using pot, but that alone isn't an issue since it's a fairly benign drug, but when you add another substance into the equation it does have some credence to substance abuse. Hard to deny many who suffer from substance abuse don't refrain from other crimes to sustain it if they don't have employment to cover it. I doubt a teenager like Trayvon would have the funds through legitimate sources to sustain it, especially since he was in another city at the time and a high school student.

I'm pretty sure I've said this before in this thread, but it's been brought up again recently so I figure I'd restate it. Yeah Zimmerman acted wrongly, he made stupid decisions and possibly prejudiced actions, but the case and charges brought to him did not apply. The prosecution went for murder because of outside pressure when the evidence could at best support manslaughter. If the prosecution went after a manslaughter charge they might have won, or at that point offered something like reckless endangerment as a plea Zimmerman might have taken it. The outside pressure to go for murder with the evidence ensured that if there was a reasonable jury it'd never be a conviction.

The autopsy DID show liver damage. The judge would not allow it to be admitted in court. Another part of the way they tried to rig the trial against Zimmerman, yet they still couldn't convict because it was a case that should have never gone to trial.

I don't know if there was any codeine found in his system. I can't find a full toxicology report, just an autopsy report that indicates liver damage through possible drug use.

Did you also miss where I said Zimmerman wasn't completely innocent? I did say he made stupid decisions, but his actions didn't warrant a murder conviction. It was the liberal and race bating insistence for murder that let Zimmerman walk free because the evidence didn't support murder.

You just described 60- 70% of high school kids. Nobody said he was a saint. But to describe him as a thug who got what he deserved is definitely wrong and racist. If this kid was a white kid with some baggy pants and a hoody, all you republicans would be up in arms and probably blaming Zimmerman's Latino roots. Zimmerman was twice his age and should have had the wisdom to not pursue Trayvon and let the police handle the situation.
