Well, AZ won this one, and I'm all for it, myself !

The Supreme Court has ruled in AZ favour that they can punish and fine businesses for hiring illegals ! :)

About time !

Dont worry, the republicans will challenge this ruling to the supreme court and the majority 5 will over turn it in time and its back to business as usual.

Peace.

No, I just think it's about time the US residents, esspecially those living in AZ, finally pay a "normal" price for landscaping needs and services.
I don't think they grow much fruit or veggies there, like Florida or California does, but everything should get just a bit more expensive.

It's a small price to pay to have Americans back at work, and work for illegals will run out in AZ, and they should slowly flee somewhere else.

You're right, you don't think. The major theme for landscaping in Az is cactus and rocks, the people who can afford to hire landscaping companies do so the rest do it themselves. Sure some may hire day labor that may be illegals, shame on them for doing so and they should be fined. Your suggestion that Az residents don't pay a "normal" price for their lawn care is baseless and just another attempt on your part to slam America.

Its a fact trip, AZ residents pay less for many services. The reason for these lowered costs?? Illegal aliens. Everything from house painting, to driveway concreting, to roofing, to plumbing, to landscaping, to swimming pool installations, to baby sitting, to housekeeping, to child raising, to hotel services.

AZ residents benefit to the tune of millions of dollars each year. This is tax free benefits as the illegals who perform these services pay no income taxes to the goverment.

The businesses need to be punished for their participation in the illegal alien trade.

Peace.

My cousin in Florida, a year or 2 older then me.
He had a successful landscaping company, and many people do get their lawns cut, and condominium complexes hire landscapers as well as hotels.
Well, needless to say, after 25 or 30 years, he got overrun by Mexicans doing it for half the price.
They ran him out of business. Simple as that !

TOS has more smarts then you !

I love this rule....I don't want it challenged. Why do you think Republicans would be against it? You just spout stuff. I'm republican and I think employers need to be kept from hiring illegals.........fine them or whatever. If there are no jobs for illegals here, maybe they'll all go to Canada and get hot dog wagons.

I also love it that it's a slap in Obama's face! After all, Obama doesn't want any state going after immigration reform on their own.

Your friend TOS, said Republicans would be against this......wrong!!! This supreme court ruling is a slap in Obama's face. He doesn't think that individual states should have anything to do with immigration reform. But since congress can't cope with the needed reform, now this opens the door for all states to address immigration reform.

You'll never see me disagree with that . In case you haven't noticed I want the illegals OUT of the US, fining the companies that employee them is just part of the equation.

Oh, BTW, it was Az's republican congress that passed this law and a republican Governor that signed it.

I expect to pay more for my produce that comes mostly from California, during the winter months, if they adopt this law, too.
Unless, ofcourse the US dollar keeps falling.

Nothing racist about that. Landscaping is mostly done by Mexicans in Florida, so are the orange and other fruit pickers.
California the same thing.

Oh, and how can I forget all the hotel staff (cleaners) !!!

Illegal Immigrant Arrested in Death of Texas Police Officer

A motorist accused of killing a Houston police officer while driving drunk is in the country illegally, MyFoxHouston.com reports.

Police say Johoan Rodriguez was drunk when he drove his car into a road block Sunday morning, striking and killing Officer Kevin Will with the Houston Police Department.
Rodriguez has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter of a peace officer, felony evading, and possession of a controlled substance. Police say he had .3 grams of cocaine in his pocket along with an alcohol level of .238, according to the station.

At a probable cause court hearing late Sunday night, it was learned that Rodriguez is in the country illegally. A judge refused to give the suspect any kind of bond, and his first court date was set for Wednesday.

Officer Will died a hero. The 38-year old officer couldn't get out of the path of an alleged drunk driver, but the officer did save a citizen's life.
“He credits officer Will with giving him the prior warning of yelling 'get out of the way,’” HPD Chief Charles McClelland told the media Sunday afternoon. “It actually saved his life.”

Umm Moreluck,

Not sure if you quite understand but, it was the US CHAMBER OF COMMERCE who challenged the courts ruling and took it to the supreme court for relief. The US Chamber of Commerce is a friend of the republican party and is defended aggressively by the republican party. It donates most of its money to the republican party and its candidates. It stands with GOP lawmakers on employer / employee issues where the employer is protected.

Now you want to say the republicans are not against this bill??

Get a clue.

Peace.

I'm not caring who's in favor of what.......I don't care! I just want someone....state or Federal to guard the damn borders!! If the fed refuses to do their job, then the states should be able to do what they gotta do. The Chamber of Commerce is of no use when a city is overrun by illegals.

When CA. released all the slime from the prisons, I wonder if they checked to see if any were illegal aliens. My guess is....NOT!

Ummm, I'm not sure YOU understand, it was a republican state legislature that passed the bill and a republican governor that signed into law. The Cof C doesn't run the republican party it seems. I'm sure there are some republicans that don't like this law, but they are hardly the whole of the party.

Hey Trip, I know you make a habit of "tripping" over your thoughts, but i think you "tripped" this time and gave yourself a concussion.

The BILL , House Bill 2779 (Fair and Legal Employment Act) was signed into law NOT BY the Republican sea hag Jan Brewer but by Democrat Janet Napolitano.

"""Gov. Janet Napolitano on Monday signed sweeping legislation against employers of undocumented workers, targeting the state's market for illegal labor with what she called “the most aggressive action in the country.”

The penalty for violators: The suspension of a business license on the first violation and permanent revocation on a second, amounting to a death sentence for repeat offenders.

“It's monumental. It's a change from anything we've done in the past,” said Speaker of the House Jim Weiers, R-Phoenix. “It's time for the states to start stepping up and stop waiting for Congress.”"""

Napolitano on employer sanctions

Since early 2006, Gov. Janet Napolitano has repeatedly advocated a set of enforceable regulations to penalize employers of illegal labor.

We need employer sanctions that really work so that when we enforce a new law, we have something that's in force and enforceable."

- Feb. 25, 2007; National Public Radio

I have told you repeatedly that I am willing to work with you to develop comprehensive immigration reform that provides not only real sanctions against illegal hiring but also the resources our local law enforcement needs to play a meaningful role."

- June 6, 2006; veto letter explaining her rejection of House Bill 2577, which included employer sanctions

People come here because they want work and employers here are willing to hire them. Those who continue to intentionally hire illegal immigrants should face substantial fines and penalties."

There are oppponents on both sides, however, the lead pack of plaintiffs start with the US Chamber of Commerce, the AZ chamber of commerce, The Arizona Contractors assn, Arizona Farm Committee Bureau, The Arizona Restaurant and hospitality assn, and some minority human rights groups.

Not all democrats and republicans were in favor of this bill.

So trip, you were incorrect on who signed this bill into law and who NOW opposes it.

The US Chamber of Commerce, or the repubilcans best friend in business wants things to remain as they are. THey are not in favor of this reform or any reform that removes cheap labor out of the workforce.

Despite all the claims of patriotism and americanism, the Chamber would still rather see illegal aliens employed before hard working taxpaying americans.

Peace.
