Ohhhh you said south? I been going north for 3 hours, oops.
There was a new feeder driver here years ago and they sent him to Richmond Va, I never got the full scoop on whether they gave him bad directions or he just totally screwed them up, but he made it to New Jersey before he realized something wasn't right and called dispatch.

Not true here. We just got 7 sleeper runs in the last year after having none. First couple weeks bottom guys got forced. One guy was pissed from what I heard. He was ready to quit.

Ok. Do you have a feeder dept.? If so, do you have intent(sleeper) lists? As I understand it, anyone on these lists can be FORCED to take a run all the way to the last person on the list. Pissed or not. Although, it makes me wonder if no one signed up for sleepers in the whole operation, would they hire from off the street?

Get contractor to pull it.

I'm into distribution!!
We've had them use a contractor a few times but it's usually because no one has hours available. I believe the sleeper intent list is what they are telling us can be forced.

In a small building I would think it being contracted a few times would get the run moved to a hub. We have a few sleeper runs that bobtail out for their 1st leg.

I don’t know what an intent sleeper list is. I see cover sign up sheets up for sleeper runs. We currently have 7 sleeper runs. We’ve gotten about one new one every month for the past 6 months. I know the first few weeks of each new run, bottom drivers were forced. All current have now been filled with drivers who won bid. But each time we get a new one it seems bottom are forced until they are filled.

CDLLife: FMCSA releases Hours of Service Final Rule, making 4 key rule changes.

The new Hours of Service rules will be implemented 120 days after the Final Rule is published in the Federal Register.

  • The Agency will increase safety and flexibility for the 30-minute break rule by requiring a break after 8 hours of consecutive driving and allowing the break to be satisfied by a driver using on-duty, not driving status, rather than off-duty status.
  • The Agency will modify the sleeper-berth exception to allow drivers to split their required 10 hours off duty into two periods: an 8/2 split, or a 7/3 split—with neither period counting against the driver’s 14‑hour driving window.
  • The Agency will modify the adverse driving conditions exception by extending by two hours the maximum window during which driving is permitted.
  • The Agency will change the short-haul exception available to certain commercial drivers by lengthening the drivers’ maximum on‑duty period from 12 to 14 hours and extending the distance limit within which the driver may operate from 100 air miles to 150 air miles.
