Increased wages cause higher prices. You don’t honestly think big corporations will absorb higher wages do you? They pass them off to the consumer, devaluing the average Joe’s dollar. Otherwise known as inflation.

Another factor for the employers are the increasing cost of maintaining their retirement and health and welfare plans. Most are counting on the Feds to bail them out after this pandemic, especially with the Dems in control similar to the Central Trust forgivable loan.
Currently the markets and the economy are doing well for it is not yet a concern, when these employers raise their starting hourly rates they are going to balance it out by eliminating Pension Plans, even Matched 401k’s will be a thing of the past. With Health and Welfare the goal is to force their employees to pay out of pocket more for health coverages or reduce the benefits and force them into the increasing Federal Government’s welfare plans.
Considering that our employer (UPS) pays over 500 dollars per week (except those that in are in a defined pension plan) into BOTH the pensions and health and welfare for every (full time) Union member, you could imagine what their number one goal is at every contract is to get out of those coverages or reduce them to the bare minimum allowed by law
