You don't need anyone to be the organiser anyways. The Cruise goers know what they want, they have internet, and may the best price and timing win amongst them all.
That interline discount sounds awesome.
I done some internet surfing about interline , but haven't registered with interline, since I really can't anyways. But, I seen some low prices, that are unbeatable.

And if Steve wasn't a child, he didn't need to quit, but maybe instead ask Amy about Interline discounts.

No big deal, I encourage you all, to look for the best deals for fall of 2011.
I will probably post one or 2 of them here, as well.

But, the looks of it, Interline prices CAN'T be beaten. Go for it !

LOL, you guys obviously have all of the inside info. I just did what I did because I saw a need. There's really no further need for me since I don't even know anything about this and am not even a cruiser. KOC gave great advice, as did you, as far as restaurants are concerned. I am by no means pouting. I'm just saying that people that are better equipped can take care of this.

Steve, I take the child comment back. I just got upset about you quitting. I'm sorry. Please accept.

Darn , an apology. I was just going to suggest to Steve that a "Malachi Crunch" might be in order.

sad------------- a few of you had a great thing going with the cruise until the "know it alls " stepped in. It appears the annual UPS cruise might have been one time shot. I hope I'm wrong for the sake of the few that don't cry because they don't get the absolute rock bottem price Clyde Suck Fingers brother in law could have gotten them. Good God man- you are UPSers--- you don't have to pinch that penny so tight.---and if you do you shouldn't be concidering a cruise in the first place.

Exactly Rod!! I too hope that it wasn't a one time shot. I have no problem with Amy doing the booking and Cheryl and Tony fine tuning the prices with all their "cruise seniority" and know all. (NOT "know it all;" just know all) One year away plus some, plenty time to figure this all out, plenty of time to start saving $20 a week. If it's the original cruise people (PLUS Steve and family!!!), so be it. You all don't know what you are missing. You see as much or as little of the people on the cruise as you want, so if you don't get along with certain people, the ship is HUGE! Geez, why is this suddenly so hard. It ain't rocket science.

+1, but what am I? Just a lowly UPS driver.:sad-little:

Wasn't trying to put anyone down in regards to how the past cruise was booked. I do not follow this or any threrads here. Just popped in and thought I would give some advice.

I guess it wasn't needed nor wanted. Next time I will keep my thoughts to myself being that you guys have it all together with the "know alls".

Good luck!

STEVE.....I just learned about the interline rates on my last cruise from a fellow package car driver. As far as not offfering advice on the last cruise.......I was shunned at this board just as I am now.....so I didn't feel comfortable offering advice.

Perhaps if some of you, not you steve, took the time...scratch thaqt.....weren't so quick to judge other things would be a little diffrent around here.

You did the right thing KOB,
I'm sure your input was well received, and will be considered.

And, no, it's not penny quinching !
He's talking $500 - $700 per couple savings ! That alone pays for the flight, and most likely the hotel room. Which flights are discounted , too !

Steve, for what it is worth, I would like to personally thank you for all of the work that you put in to organizing BC I. It is a shame that you and your wife were not able to go. I also think it is a shame that we have a couple of, for lack of a better word, hindsighters who have chosen to undermine what you worked so hard to put together.

I do hope that you will not let these folks dissuade you from participating in BC II or III. I will not be there for II (weddings are expensive, especially traditional ones!!) but do plan on being there for III.

Dave.

Steve knows how I feel about the first BC cruise, I don't need to repeat it here.
Maybe if Klein and KoF had just said, hey y'all check out interline for cruise prices and check with Amy (or whom ever) the advice may have been taken as it was intended. The side comments suggesting a TA worth a damn would do...yadda yadda yadda, was IMO uncalled for. Amy happens to be a good TA and also a personal friend of Steve. I have no idea how long interline has been around, good chance that Amy didn't know about it when we book the cruise nearly two years ago.

KoF, you need to get a little thicker skin.

Just an FYI.

Some cruise lines (do not think Carnival) offer discounts for selected cruises for UPS employees. These discounts are called interline discounts. They are offered to employees of airlines, shippers and cruise lines. I priced out a cruise and was able to save over 300 per person.

Go to vacationstog.com. Look on the left side of the main screen and click on interline discounts.
Royal caribbean has a 6 day cruise going for $319per person as an example.

Good luck
From what I wrote seemed like a friendly suggestion/heads up. Nothing more.
Here is the reply from upstate:

Could it be the rate she gave for the BC Cruise was better than the discounted rate? I know that I can get a better deal on a car than I would if I only used the discounts offered on upsers
Not very welcoming…basicly stating that the info given would or could not result in some saving in the future.
I then replied in a friendly manner:
koc said:
I have been on over 10 cruises. I have yet to see any special lower then I can get with an interline reservation.

At random:
cheapest price for 7/18 princess cruise on emerald : $764 plus taxes and fees found on travelocity.
interline rate for 7/18 princess cruise on emerald : 599 plus taxes and fees.
Savings of 165 per person. Not to shabby.

BTW, I too have yet to get any "deal" on upsers.......but this is not the same.

Also, if you have a good TA you should get Onboard credit paid by the TA for you to use as you wish. I have yet booked a cruise and have not gotten a Onbaord credit. Anywhere from 50 per person to 150 per person. A good TA will always kick back some of their commision by putting money on your sea pass bill.

Last cruise my bill at the end of the cruise was 325 and change.
I only had to pay 200 and change since my TA gave me 125.oo onboard credit when I booked.
Having not read the entire thread, I was unaware that there was anyone saying the TA you had was not any good. She may be better then my current TA. Also, I should add that I have never sailed Carnival. My past cruises have been on royal Caribbean. They have a one price program. TA’s are NOT allowed to sell the cruise for any price other then the price that Royal sells the cruise for. So whether you go to an online TA, brick and mortar TA or Royalcaribbean.com……you will pay the same price. Thus the reason for my TA giving me OBC. After posting I have since educated myself on Carnivals pricing and yes TA’s can sell the cruise for less then you may get at Carnival. Again, I was just trying to share some knowledge.
I then replied to Klein:
KOC said:
No, I will not be doing the cruise.
Just trying to share some info.

Interline, or not..... GET a TA who will give OBC (onboard credit) nothing like cash being in your cruise account as soon as you step aboard!!
Perhaps I was a little strong in voicing my opinion, but seem to have ruffled a few feathers. Maybe some others may need a “thicker skin”.

I'M OUT!!!

I love the way people chime in, AFTER the fact, to say what a savings we could have or could have had, if only. These same people knew all about the first cruise and the preparations and could have/should have spoken up when we were at the setup stage. Since there are people that know WAY more about cruises, than I, I will sit back and watch as the next cruise is setup. I was honored to help on the first cruise, since no one was willing to step up to the plate and make that one happen. I'm glad you all had a great time and am sorry I missed out on the fun. It sure was nice to meet you all at the Bon Voyage party
All I can say had I had knowledge of interline rates BEFORE your cruise I would of added my 2 cents then.

Again I get slammed.
As far as needing thicker skin……Nah. I am who I am and will continue to be me. If my skin is to thick or to thin…..well it has worked for me all of these years.
Last piece of advice. I know of a website that could be of help. You post your potential cruise info. Ship, Date, category and so forth. Then TA’s will email you with their best price. I still use the site and then take the lowest price to my TA and ask for it to be beat or at the least matched. Not saying don’t use your TA, but from my experience price can be all over the board for the exact same product and cant hurt to get the best price. Your TA will be getting a good commission from booking a lot of cabins.....so make sure you are getting the best price.

My input on interline was nothing more then to help you find the best cruise for the best price.
The way I do it, I use travelocity to narrow down the date I can go, where I want to go and the ball park price. Then once I find the cruise I want....then shop it around.
Good luck!!

KOC, don't worry. I loved your suggestion.
I;m a travel freak and always look for the best deals.

I also get e-mails. I could have gone on a 10 hr flight back to Florida for $121.00 !

Don't take it too hard.
There are always a few that don't care, or don't have an interest in savings.
Just oddly enough they will fight for a 50 cent increase in wages.

You did mean it well.
Same as I do.

But , no one there to listen :(
