Building Transfer Advice Needed

How do guys with more seniority than you already don’t have your route? We rebid every two years.
I'm in the Western Region. If you win a bid it's a bid for life. I only won the route because the previous driver was on disability during the second half of covid and it was going out with 12-14 hour days. No one wanted to cover it let alone bid it. After I won it within a couple months we finally got the staffing we needed and it finally went back to it's "normal" stop count.

Good times ahead of you. Hopefully you can make it through

We bid once a year in package and every six months in feeder. If your route gets sent to another building, you can either follow your work or stay and bump anyone under you. If you do follow your work you have the right to return for 3 years by bidding on any route that comes up for bid (not counting the yearly bid) in your original building.

I love the idea of bids for life but man does that sound awesome to have the option to bid back into the original building. Part of what makes this tough for me is the permanence of it.

Lifetime bids might sound great to junior drivers, but having a yearly bid is something you begin to appreciate as you gain seniority. It's nice to have options.
