Tile floors aren't very expensive and an easy way to make it look better.

It amazes me how cheap people will go on some things.


Tile isn't that much more expensive than vinyl. Granite or solid surface may look like a lot more but you're rarely talking more than 50 sq ft of countertops.

After a bad storm went through here a few years ago people started using wind resistant shingles. They don't cost that much more but are a fairly new development. Weren't used in older houses.

Metal roofs are getting a little more popular here but most people wanting better go for slate. Expensive but lasts a very long time.
