How in the world can you sign a bid without any seniority or being in the union?

You take a pen and you write your name on the piece of paper

Do you think they'd end up going outside to fill it? Wouldn't it be better to give an in-house rookie a shot?

You would be considered outside, since you are not in the union yet. Put your name on any list, put your hire date as your seniority date, you'll make it to seniority eventually.

wait times are more like immediate now that saturday is up and running. 3 people signed and one was a seasonal part timer.

I was a driver helper with one of the highest seniority drivers. He put in a good word for me and I accepted an offer for pre load. He knows I want to drive, and said he's still putting in a good word for me. He also told me no one is signing the sheets for driving jobs. I don't have my 30 days in yet, so my question is can I sign the sheet for a TCD spot? It's empty and is open till the end of this week.
