Here's my take:

Buy a week's of groceries. You know your kitchen well, better than anyone. You know what goes where and why. Now, have the mother-in law come over and tell you how to put everything away. Things are quite not right and the whole job just doesn't go as smooth as it should. Sure you might save a few steps, but overall, things takes longer than doing it your way, plus some things get damaged, like the ice cream that now is left out too long.
