A lot of the East Coast it doesn't go far either. Philly and New York suburbs are some expensive living in Jersey. High tax areas. I'll take a raise, not necessary but I won't complain either.

Try New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, San Jose, San Diego, Portland, Los Angeles, the list goes on and on .....$36 an hour, especially for a family of 4 isn't in these cities...not even close.
