That's what I'm saying. The communication would be between DIADs only.
Meet points, swapping misloads, etc. The center already communicates with us thru the diad (two way) if you haven't already noticed
That's what I'm saying. The communication would be between DIADs only.
Our DIADs also allow for communication between drivers yet that feature has yet to be enabled.
They won't enable it as long as we allow them to prod us to call on our own personal cell phones.
Do you know any details about the telematics report depicting "talking after delivering" (I presume that means Stop Complete)? It's funny that you mention that.
When 2 way communication was first put in the board, that was the question
all the drivers asked. The company's response was "no way"
The drivers thought it would be a great way to set up meet points, exchange
misloads, help cover heavy pickups, over 70's, etc.
The company didn't want to give up control of these situations.
There ya go.
Summed up.... in a nutshell.

I hate when parts of my route get CUT but I get to do as many or more than were cut on another route!!!!!Totol BS!!We don't have a 9.5 issue here. But for you guys out there who do.
It needs to be enforced with big money penalty to get the companies attention.
The 50% run of an area cut is wrong. They are using it to their advantage. No changing of route name and call it another. Only adds allowed. No cuts of your bid area. To do somebody else's area.
Take care of retirees (UPS ONLY) our local has Ups covering 76% of all pensions. This is totally dishonest. .
Part timers. A 3 dollar raise plus pension contributions.

Is that due to the diad lingering for a span of time after Stop Complete or is it that the company can listen without divulging?
A route cold these days is tough. But if more routes were put on because they had to pay the drivers showing up regardless, it would make for some more reasonable dispatches.
I'm not talking about sparcs or reports that show dead time.Uh....
SPARCS ?
For like, the last 20 years ?

I'm talking about electronic eavesdropping.
Don't tell me it's not available and that a company wouldn't listen to specific people's conversations.
How would they know if you're "talking"?
Thx for the response. They don't-----it is an assumption based on the amount of time between "stop complete" and "left stop".
Back then I'd just go back to the previous stop if I found another pkg for them and take the credit for the time. Not my problem.I though all the packages were loaded stop for stop now with your DIAD telling you how many and in what order to deliver them. How could that be tougher that back when the trucks were a cluster "friend" and you didn't know how many packages for each stop you had or what your next stop was without going through your load.
I'm not gonna compare eras. I'm sure some parts of the job are easier than yesteryear. While I'm also sure some parts of the job are harder than yesteryear. This can be a hard job, mainly mentally, regardless of when and where or what year you are delivering in.I though all the packages were loaded stop for stop now with your DIAD telling you how many and in what order to deliver them. It's a good point, though, maybe we should build protections against a/v monitoring into the contract now instead of waiting til it's policy and then trying to push back?Seriously.
There's reasons for the question and having some part time worker load 4-5 trucks starting at 4:30 am is not parallel to my question.
Thx for the response.
I hope you're right.
There's a reason I asked the question. Someday I can elaborate.
After a heavy stop, my body needs to catch my breath. This rest is not part of my break. This is cumulative fatigue caused when you ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) storage drops. Time and energy (food) will replenish these stores.Do you know any details about the telematics report depicting "talking after delivering" (I presume that means Stop Complete)?

Also defined by former bargaining unit members (management) infected with amnesia as Amino trioverallowed (ov/under) and it gives them heartburn during (one of) the AM bat phone calls. After a heavy stop, my body needs to catch my breath. Now, you actually know how many are supposed to be with that delivery and since they've cut loaders either your load got put in with a bobcat bucket or often the missing pkg is on another truck so you still waste time digging for it amongst a load that has 20-25% more work.
Ignorance was bliss. Angering, yes but this jacked up system is too.
And we have trucks with power steering plus headlights that shine more than 15 ft ahead of you at night.I wasn't trying to start a "it was harder back then fight". I was just remembering back when I went out cold on my first rural route.
No cell phones
No Google Maps
No Earth View
No E-911 rural addressing system
Very few names on mail boxes
Very few roads marked with a name
Very few paved roads
Didn't have a clue how Rural Route 2 ran or what area it covered---let alone RR 4,
Star Route and a half a dozen more RR mixed in.
I remember once after dark when I first started delivering this route having to ask a customer directions on how to get back to town when I finished my last stop-----now that's LOST.
Now I drive around the country and every road has a street sign and every resident has a nice big blue numbered sign at the end of their driveway just like house numbers when delivering in town.-----------------and the roads are all paved.
