Contract raises vs. state minimum wage

At the minimum they should at least give you time to fine sort it before you head out.

Or... you know... have enough preloaders on staff, and give them enough time to do it right, instead of forcing them into a situation where they have no choice but to pile :censored2: in the truck so that the sup can meet his arbitrary numbers. I know drivers love to complain about preloaders being uncaring and lazy, but they're given an impossible task. The preload sup doesn't care if your truck is loaded well, just that all the boxes are off the belt by the prescribed time. They just pass the buck. That's what UPS does, every step of the way... and in the end it all ends up in the drivers lap as they are the last step in the process.

The preloader job isn't that hard. It's only hard when they change :censored2: like FL1 to FDR and FL4 to MFL without telling us and wonder why we're so confused..hell, the drivers didn't know about the change until they were heading out.

More like fair days pay for a fair days work.
You should be on the negotiating team for management come contract time.

Your opinion of a fair days pay is different than everybody else's.

Check into wages for

FedEx loaders.
Grocery store stockers.
Warehouse loaders.
Amazon workers.

UPS really isn't far off of what everyone else pays for the same type of unskilled labor.

Or do you think a high school dropout should make as much loading trailers as a CPA who went to college for 4 years?

And trust me, a lot of CPA's are barely making ends meet.

Yawn.
This isn't FedEx, it's a union job. We can and should fight for higher part time wages.

Great to see ups pays minimum wage. Literally!!!

Go fold clothes at the mall. I would much rather do that for minimum wage than load a dirty hot/cold feeder
Quit being a whiner. For the job you do and the technology that is there u shouldn't be making that. Only if there was a way to have robots load the trucks we wouldn't need any teamsters

Yeah maybe fight right out the door. Just remember the companies that shut down because of unions. You guys should be happy with the job u have

Again, we are finally getting somewhere.

If those employees making $10/hr fought, voted, they could get what they wanted.

If FedEx workers wanted to get more, they could unionize.

Same with amazon workers.

If the current PTers do not want to fight and do not vote, should the FTers fight for them?

New PT employees are voting with their feet. All the PT hired in May had quit by the first week in June. It is a revolving door for new hires. The only ones that stay are old timers making $20 or $30/hr and have full benefits. Why not raise the starting pay to $15 or $20/hr. and full benefits after 90 days. Either that or pay an old timer $50+/hr. OT.

We had a preload sup quit after being sent home by the PDS for basically being a PITA.

We had a preloader simply stop showing up.

We had a preloader quit midshift yesterday. She was loading a 3 car pull, handed her scanner and ID to her sup and left after break.

We have a PTCD who submitted her 30 day notice DQing herself as a driver.
