I'm kinda disappointed with the attitude most people have now about the insurance costs compared to the responses when it was first reveled last month. It seems some of the same folks that were ready to fight it, are becoming more accepting of it. I would too I guess if I were full time. But honestly. Are they going to send part- timers a bill instead of a check every week? The average part-timer works 12 hours a week at 8.50 starting! How will they keep anyone in the building for part time? I've worked my tail off for UPS for 9 years along with a full time day job (with bad insurance) so I can afford a strike. I hope everyone else gets a second wind and stops sounding so accepting of this proposal. Just think they made 4.8 billion on ours backs guys. I've always been extremely grateful for our insurance, and I don't want to give it up just like that!

Peace

Imagine the attitudes of part timers if they have to pay for their healthcare making 10 an hour. Its its bad enough now. Have fun drivers loading your trucks. I think thats what the company wants anyways. Drivers loading their trucks just like fedex drivers!!! Bend over.....keep selling out the part time crew contract time and see what happens.

I can assure you with no reservations at all that this is definitely not what the company wants.
It is much cheaper to have a part-timer do it, the driver can spend longer times out on the road without running into DOT hours issues.
If drivers loaded their own vehicles, UPS would have to buy more package cars and expand or build new buildings.

Like I said, UPS will never do or want this.

The only way Teamsters are going to be able to protect their health insurance is with the full repeal of Obamacare. No chance of that happening now. The Cadillac Tax is just one of the 21 new taxes that are driving up costs for UPS & other employers. It will only be effective for one year of this 5yr contract so imagine the next contract when this tax is punishing UPS for all 5 years... THIS IS WHAT WE GET FOR SUPPORTING OBAMA!!! Next time think before you vote.

We cant continue to support union leaders that support legislation that harms our interests & then expect them to shelter us from those choices in the next contract. Teamsters need to refocus their loyalties away from socialist Democrats & back to the people that pay their salaries. Hoffa is pissing on our shoes with his support of Obamacare & telling everyone it's raining.

I have asked this before but not sure there was an answer. If health insurance is part of your compensation, why should it not be taxed? If they got rid of it and gave each of you an extra $15k in wages, it would be taxed. Or is it that, "It's always been that way.

Still amazing to me that you have people like this so uninformed amongst you.

Pretty scary for the future of unions in general if they really believe this stuff.

Show us all where UPS is complaining about Obamacare and how it is specifically impacting them financially because of it.

You can't because it's just not real.

UPS isn't complaining about the new law, they are adjusting for it. hall has conceded in writing that the increasing cost of health care is real, and claims to be searching for "creative solutions to the problem" Someone posted the letter, dated 3-8-13, here a few days ago. It's no coincidence that as Obamacare is implemented, our benefits will continue to decline. If more of you were smart enough to see it, we might not be having this discussion today.

Benefit costs have been soaring for decades, just because you haven't seen it personally because of your Union covering your a** doesn't mean everyone else in reality doesn't see this.
You might as well blame Obamacare for Fedex Ground, and throw in the cost of potato chips too.

Unless Obamacare is going to cost UPS somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 billion a year, I don't want to hear it.

Have you seen your health insurance amount on your W-2? It's on there now in box 12dd. Thats the company reporting to the IRS how much your insurance costs. This amount becomes taxable, not to you personally, but to UPS in 2018. The threshold for an individual is set around $10,500 and most plans are in the $15k to $19k range. Obamacare taxes UPS for anything above that threshold at 40%. You do the math. UPS will be paying thousands more for every employee. That's money that we could be bargaining for that has been forfeited to Washington instead.

$6.1 billion over the course of the next contract according to hall. One years profit for UPS diverted to Washington to be redistributed to those riding in the wagon.

Cost Have been going up for decades & so has potato chips. However UPS has always provided great health care to it's employees. Whats changed is that now company's are going to be punished for providing good health insurance. It will eventually lead us all to the exchanges or government plans. I leave you with this quote.

"I don't think we'll be able to get rid of employer plans immediately. I invision some transition period of a decade, fifteen, twenty years out." -Barack Obama

Welcome to the "transition period".
