You sure about that? Seem very high. My guess is flu was secondary to other major health issues/advanced age and it was lumped together.
Wrong. It was 186,702 and behind unintentional injury deaths. Also not sure whether that whole dying with COVID versus dying from COVID distinction has been resolved.

Looks like that 186k number includes the flu as a secondary. This were very sick people that were on deaths door.

My aunt died from cancer two weeks ago. I was out of state, but a bunch of my relatives, including my 84 yr old dad, and a number of other attendees, all came down with the latest Covid variant. My dad was very sick for a few days.

Very sorry to hear of your Aunt's passing.
The kids got back from Disney a couple weeks ago. Started feeling bad on the way back. Daughter, son in-law , 4 kids, all tested positive. In three days all fine.
Pretty much the case with everyone from the funeral. Doctor told my dad this variant isn't very lethal. He was miserably sick though.
