Here's another GOP myth busted: We are not dependent on a global economy and are "independent".

Big companies are already telling the government to expect critical shortages of medicines and possibly, food, as foreign suppliers are either cut-off from the supply chain or shutdown because of quarantines.

This is what happens when you outsource and off-shore to increase profits. It's completely ironic that the "self-sufficiency",nationalist GOP fails to recognize just how dependent we are on foreign supplies. We are not self-sufficient, nor will we ever be.

The disruption of global supply chains will further weaken the US economy as companies cannot get the raw materials and/or parts to manufacture whatever it is they make, sell, or inventory.

Remember my earlier example of Winnebago? If you can't get your Chinese/Mexican/Indian produced parts for the RV, it cannot be completed and/or sold.

Nobody but survivalists will be buying them now anyways, but maybe you see my point. And there aren't US sources for these parts any more because production is all off-shore.

See the problem? Probably not.

The US rose to superpower status because world wars had destroyed the infrastructure of competing nations, allowing it to surpass them. China has already been poised to surpass the US, and its success and leadership in handling the pandemic appears to be giving it a major boost.

Italy is not looking to the EU, NATO or its US “ally” for help fighting Coronavirus, but to naughty socialists regimes in Cuba and China. A geopolitical shift is emerging amid this pandemic as the US falters while China plays the leading role. https://twitter.com/russ_warrior/s

40% of Americans can’t afford a $400 emergency, & that’s before COVID.
The faster we address wage & rent concerns for people & small businesses, the faster we can get everyone to self-isolate.
People are going to work & small biz are staying open bc they’ll go under otherwise.

These people 'can’t afford a $400 emergency' because they spend their money on drugs, smartphones, bable TV and other non-essential goodies.
