Mnuchin is arguing that the unemployment rate could hit 20% if nothing is done.

Mnuchin warns jobless rate could hit 20 percent without federal response: report

“Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told Republican Senators Tuesday that without government intervention the U.S. could hit 20 percent unemployment because of the coronavirus, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The Treasury secretary did not predict the U.S. would reach that level, but said he believed the outbreak has the potential to do more economic damage than the 2008 financial crisis as he argued for financial stimulus to hourly workers and businesses hurt by "social distancing" amid the outbreak.”

Probably will hit 20 percent for a couple of weeks. We're going add 5 trillion more to the deficit because no one is sitting down and doing the hard number crunching to see how much money is really needed.

Rudy G was interviewed about 9/11 . He stated he way overestimated the impact of 9/11 on new york . he said he failed to recognize that while some industries were severly hurt by 9/11 others profited from the events.

Well, hopefully Mnuchin will re-crunch the numbers and discover that $500 ($250 if we’re lucky) checks would be enough for Americans who are out of work for a couple months.

I think this virus’s death rate is unconfirmed.
I don’t think enough tests have been done world wide. I think this has lead to the seriously ill and people with underlying health conditions that have been tested inflate this death rate number(they are the ones seeking medical attention.)
It wouldn’t surprise me if this virus is more contagious, but less deadly than the flu.

At the end of the day you can’t sink the world’s economy over a mild flu that 80% of the population is going to experience very minor symptoms if at all.

A relief package for the sick and elderly, with lots of information about how deadly this could be for them should of been enough. Now we got millions world wide who stand to lose everything, over a :censored2:ing mild flu outbreak.

Poop Head

Judge me.
It should just be a public service announcement, old people stay home, young people avoid your older relatives.

instead we gotta have thousand of Americans lose their savings and jobs pissing in the wind against a virus that the majority infected people will never even realize they had.
:censored2: dude. This is the most winner post about this whole :censored2: fest

It’s easy for me to speculate on the side of my own interests. At the end of the day I’m not the one deciding who lives and who dies.
When you’re trying to win elections it’s important to error on the side of saving your citizens lives, I get that.
But from what I can see the amount of fear mongering on what appears to be a flu with no vaccines or anti-virals, having an unconfirmed death rate(most likely low, definitely not world altering high) is ridiculous.

There is absolutely no excuse for these idiots hoarding toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Get a :censored2:ing grip people.
