The point of US actions up to now has been to slow the spread of the virus so our medical system has time to prepare and not be overwhelmed by a spike in concurrent hospitalizations as Italy and much of Europe have been when things do get worse.

Yes, there are still dumb s walking and running on crowded boardwalks in San Francisco. But one of the trade offs of our government not being a communist dictatorship is that citizens maintain a certain degree of personal freedom in even the worst of circumstances.

Sorry, comrade. Things wouldn’t be going better in the US if you were running the show as you almost certainly would have opted for a more European approach to the crisis.

What would be wrong with expanding the unemployment insurance benefits to include the bar owners and others forced out of work. Increase the benefit levels to cover cobra payments and eliminate the waiting period so people can get paid ASAP. Would this stress the states too greatly? I do not need the money and would rather see my neighbors in need receive it.
