Are you wanting no attempts at bringing an end to the pandemic? No allowances for hope?

WaPo’s William Wan: “Health-care workers on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic are encountering shortages of masks, gowns, face shields and gloves — a frustrating recurrence of a struggle that haunted the first months of the crisis.

That's nice.

And when stocks are traded demand drives prices. High demand, prices increase as available shares become scarce. Why is there demand? For the reasons you cited. Why do companies do better than before? Companies give stock options as incentives to exec's to produce. If they perform well and the company is more profitable the stock's value will increase allowing the exec's to exercise their options at a lower price and sell the shares at the current higher price. When dividends are paid quarterly big funds like Vanguard come in to buy a large amount of said stock and collect the dividend. Since there's a lot of stock out there paying dividends and the funds have X amount to buy with the best performing companies with the best dividends do the best. So when FedEx employees rage about wages being held down and retirement disappearing, etc it's because the stock is where the real wealth is at and executives are in it to get wealthy, not support employee lifestyles. As harsh as it may seem it also has the effect of keeping companies healthy and viable.

You seem to forget the Sub prime mortgage issue
The Bottom Line
The stock market crash of 2008 was as a result of defaults on consolidated mortgage-backed securities. Subprime housing loans comprised most MBS. Banks offered these loans to almost everyone, even those who weren’t creditworthy.

When the housing market fell, many homeowners defaulted on their loans. These defaults resounded all over the financial industry, which heavily invested in MBS. Consequently, companies doing business with these banks were negatively affected, and this pummeled their stocks, in turn.

The scale of the banking crisis led to a failure of confidence in the U.S. stock market as well. As a side effect, the stock market crashed in the fall of 2008.

The U.S. stock market did not sufficiently recover until mid-2013.

The number of cases is up due to young people getting it by being out more, much more testing, and probably being better at detecting it.

The important number is that Deaths are down.

Interesting that you mostly/only hear the negative news about Covid, wonder why that is?

If you were reporting on the stock market and only so when it went down how would that work?

Cheers to all those cheering on Covid to kick our asses. lol Now go put on a :censored3: mask and shut up. :devil3::laughing:

It’s sad that we can’t get any form of accurate numbers at all.
According to the CDC website

deaths also include flu and pneumonia. They’re all lumped in with corona

positive cases also include “probable” Cases which can mean as little as a cough

hospitalizations doesn’t mean someone is hospitalized because of covid. It means someone that is in the hospital has covid.

Yeah, pretty crazy how there's absolutely no consistency to any aspect of this.

AP/OKLAHOMA CITY: “Health official: Trump rally ‘likely’ source of virus surge”: “President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Tulsa in late June that drew thousands of participants and large protests ‘likely contributed’ to a dramatic surge in new coronavirus cases, Tulsa City-County Health Department Director Dr. Bruce Dart said Wednesday.
Lucky for Tulsa that all those BLM protesters were virus-free. Can't imagine the death toll if they had actually been spreading the disease.
