Demoncrats want to tax pensions in Illinois

No, a few corporations in Silicone Valley make up the fifth largets economy. The rest of the state is falling apart. People in California are taxed to hell (example: a tax on fresh fruit from a vending machine). You have the largets and fastest growing homeless population. You have the largest and fastest growing welfare state....you have the highest housing prices with the largest divide in income and housing affordability.
What is happening in California is not sustainable and any economist will say the same thing. There is a reason people are starting to mass exodus to much better states.

The truth is if California didn't have perfect weather and beautiful geography, nobody would live there.

I do not notice the high taxes. What is most expensive about California is housing, because it is in such high demand. Everybody I know in the trades is working; they are building, building, building and it’s still not enough. I can sell my 1,000 sq ft home for $700K tomorrow, and probably get a cash offer for it.

We’re fine. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

California implemented weed lab testing law which is putting most of the little guys under and leave only large corporate types
It's called regulation. Just like alcohol. Really if i'm buying legal, I'd want to know that it is of the highest quality and free of pesticides.

Deranged lunatic
I have not read up on the past 6 pages or the validity of the original post but this crap happens way too often and it's why I and many others identify as socialists now.
Here's a local example: Democrats between Washington and Oregon have an agreement to toll bridges over the columbian river that would lead to workers across the river to pay an extra $6 every single day just get to and from work. You might as well say "We are going to take $6 out of your paychecks" to the lower-middle class of the whole city region.

Housing is artificially high because of over regulation that prevents people from building up. It increases urban sprawn and helps bring in more tax revenue through land purchase, permits, and property taxes.

Inordinately Right

What a load of garbage.
Local regulations are passed by local voters who actually live there. They protect homeowners from corporations and highly leveraged developers that don't care about anything but pillaging communities and destroying the historic and architectural soul of neighborhoods.

They're trying the same thing here. Outsiders come in and demolish Craftsman style architectural gems that could easily and profitably be restored, because it's easier to put up a couple of matchstick box garbage new houses in the same space.

I'm all for small government and property rights, but when you've got multi million dollar out of state companies coming in to your neighborhood you might rethink your stance on that.

Just picked up a 5 pack of pre-rolls from the legal weed place. The cleanest, friendliest, most well-organized establishment in town...and that includes the In-N-Out burger.

Illinois has more problems than what legalizing pot would solve.

There are enough people downstate to make a bit of difference if Chicago (madigan) wants it Chicago (madigan) gets it.
Well Rauner is the governor so this shift is already happening but if JB wins then you’re gonna see a mass exodus, Democrats have ruined the state. State employee pension is out of control, it’s based on last 2 years of employment so most will work all the OT they can their last 2 years and get 80% of that.

My friend is a master sergeant with the state police and makes $130k a year. State prison employee I know makes $100k with all the overtime. They’ll retire with 80% of that, that’s not sustainable, obviously.
