I have commercial stops where the customer lives on my route also.Everyone at UPS has to do certain things as part of their job responsibilities that they feel bad about.
What are some of the things you would like to do to take care of your customers but you can't because "higher ups" will not let you.
Do you feel bad about that customer that asked you for a later pickup but you couldn't because you have to make pickups in order?
Or how about the customer that asked you for an earlier delivery but you didn't because you have to make deliveries in ORION order?
My conscience would keep me awake.

If their shop was closed, I would leave it at their house.
Now I would get fired for dishonesty.
I just do the best I can.
You can't do it anymore. The GPS shoes you aren't at the correct address. And you can't release the package because it's a business address.
And they wonder why we quit caring .
There are ways within the methods to work around this and still take care of this customer.

Such as???
Which you would swiftly be fired for if a problem aroseSDN at delivery point and then drop off packages at their house.
SDN at delivery point and then drop off packages at their house.
Which you would swiftly be fired for if a problem arose
Nope. Can't do that for commercial packages. You would get fired for dishonesty and falsifying records in a big center.
no you can not use SDN for commercial packages. You would be fired here and it's in the DIAD training that you can't.Sure you can.
The way that I would probably do it if it were my customer is to ask him/her for a key to a storage area on property.
Technically the only way you can do SDN is if you scan an info note that they actually signed and turn it in.Sure you can.

How you still have a job at ups amazes me. This isn't Dave's methods. That will get you fired in a center over 30 drivers.
Not at the cost of my job. They want me not to think....not a problem..As I said, there are ways to work around this and still take care of the customer.
. From what I understand, ups stopped doing that because of issues. They still might do it in small centers, or a case by case basis, but it's not the method and you'd have problems if you did it with out that exception from the center manager or DM.What about those commercial customers who have their signatures on file with UPS?
