Drop Box Problem

I have a drop box on my route and weekly people put USPS and Fed Ex packages in there daily. The UPS drop box is on one corner of the street and the other 2 are on the other corner across the street. Depending on what kind of mood I am in that day dictates if I leave the USPS or Fed Ex package in there for a couple of days or maybe a week.If the person shipping the package does not which box to put it in then sometimes their package goes missing for a while.

so my package is forever lost in the UPS system and amazon will never the package and i will be out of the refund they owe?

whats weird is last month, i used a different UPS drop box and that package was scanned at night during pick up.
  • It could possibly still be in the drop box. Sometimes an envelope will get caught out of sight. It happens. It will be found eventually, if that is the case.
  • It could be your label didn't print out cleanly, or the way you applied it, made the bar code unscannable. Since most employees have handheld devices with tiny keypads, it doesn't get typed in. If that's the case, it will eventually get to Amazon.
  • If you reused the envelope the merchandise came to you in, and did not cover or visibly cross out the original shipping label; that package can get sent back & forth between Amazon & NY many times before someone who can figure it out sees it. If you still have the original tracking #, see if it shows any activity after the delivery date.
  • Maybe the label came off. Hopefully there is some information inside with the contents indicating it's going back to Amazon, it will be sent to them & hopefully Amazon can figure out it came from you.
  • If the label came off and/or the the envelope/contents were damaged and there's no other paperwork showing it's going to Amazon or from you, you're probably out of luck. If there is no pickup or origin scan showing UPS took possession of the envelope, good luck with that. Call Amazon.
For future reference, keep in mind the above scenarios when packaging and labelling shipments. And maybe use that other drop box where your item got a pickup scan, or better yet take it to someplace like a UPS store or authorized shipping outlet that can scan it (it may cost you, but if it's important to you it's worth it).

You would hope the courier would have done the right thing and put it in our box.

If I opened a UPS drop box and found a FedEx package in it, even if there was a FedEx box right next to me, I'd chuck it on the top of the box. It's not my responsibility to put a customers package in the correct box, that's THEIR job

Hello,
On Monday 2/26/2015, I dropped off a return package heading to Amazon. The tracking number is 1Z26X36E9027525893 (plan envelope with no amazon markings, so you wont know its an amazon package). According to UPS website, the drop box address is:
UPS Drop Box
SELF SERVE DROP BOX
3801 QUEENS BLVD, LONG ISLAND CITY, NY, 11101
However, there is a incorrect description that says the following:
CORNER OF 47TH STREET AND QUEENS BLVD

This location is invalid, the drop box is located at 38th St and Queens Blvd, not 47 ST

Here is a screenshot of the UPS page:

Noticed how the UPS map also shows the correct location of being on the corner of 38th St and Queens Blvd. Here is a google street view of the drop box:

The tracking information hasn't been updated to say that it was picked up. I have a feeling that my package is still sitting on the drop box since the UPS drivers is going to the incorrect drop box located on 47th st and queens blvd where there is no UPS Drop Box according to google street view

Any thoughts on my problem and how i can convince UPS to go the CORRECT drop box location to pick up my package on 38th st and queens blvd? I sent a few email to UPS about this problem and they just gave me a can response that says since the tracking information shows no data, they cant help me. Do i need to contact Amazon about this problem and let them duke it out with UPS? If UPS opens up the drop box on 38th st, my package will still be there.
When you printed out your return label how did you attach the label to the package ? Was it by paper clip, one piece of scotch tape, or rubber bands ?
