I think its called economics .
Would you spend a lot of money for a few planes or a lot of money for many planes .
Maybe the USAF should mothball its fleet of C-130s since that plane has been flying since Aug. 1954 .
Or the B-52 flying since April 1952.
It did just retire the last friend-4 Phantom II which has been flying since May 1958.

An friend-18 is not and will never be comparable to the friend-35, it's an idiotic statement. Trump's tweet that he asked Boeing to price an friend-18 built to be comparable to the friend-35 just shows his complete ignorance of the situation.
